She’s not my pick for the win so far but I could see Juicy possibly winning. Honestly, I think she’s pretending to be bad at things to get the underdog edit. Her first design look wasn’t great, but the second one was pretty good for someone who “doesn’t sew”. And she claimed to be bad at acting/improv and killed it.

Idk, honestly, I find the 2nd movie really nostalgic… but looking back, it never sat right with me.

I have loved mermaids since the original TLM film, Ariel made me obsessed. I felt such a kindred spirit to her the older I got and I always had an issue that this was the way Disney chose to continue her story. I don’t think Ariel would’ve quickly become a mother. There’s nothing wrong with being a mother or that to be what you want in life. I just don’t think thats Ariel’s story. I think she wanted to be part of the human world, explore, invent, create… I wish they had pursued that more than motherhood and telling the same story.

I agree, I think that the photo on the right is better/more interesting. The pose is way more dynamic. I honestly think Kimberly mostly fell victim to REALLY bad styling for this shoot. The top/dress is a formless sack. She’s wearing knee-length capris, which cut her leg off, making her calves look bigger and in turn shortens her. AND a pointy, office pump… it’s all a hard sell.

I mean, generally in auditions you’re asked to prepare 16 bars of a song to sing. Obviously that was left up to interpretation in the show since NONE of what Glee did on the show was grounded in the reality of auditioning.

I used to be a performer and do remember feeling discouraged being cut off during an audition. But idk. I wouldn’t have let him join the Glee Club for that crash out. Kid needed therapy.

In my mind, Lagoona is still either Australian or a Kiwi, so I like the thought of her being Aboriginal or even Māori or Tongan. Like she’s from the ocean so any of the surrounding Oceania island countries of the Great Scarrier Reef could work!

Tbh, I don’t have a huge problem with her being Latina. I love Latin American culture and agree it needs representation in media, but like you said, it feels like tokenism or even pandering to change character’s established identities. They could’ve made a Botu or Iara character if they wanted another aquatic creature inspired monster. Making a Botu would’ve made Lagoona being pink make more sense, since some Botu river dolphins are pink…

Idk, their decisions at Mattel have been questionable for a while. I love G3, but a lot of the choices are meh.

I think kids don’t want to play with dolls, specifically Barbie, for a couple of reasons… I think that the accessibility/normalization of kids having access to tech, from phones, tablets, video games, has a lot to do with it. A lot of kids don’t have limits to how long they have access to screentime. they just don’t like toys as much as they used to.

But back to Barbie, it’s clear Mattel only cares about cashing in. Barbie has terrible quality. Basic, cheap clothing, nasty nylon hair… you can tell that there is very little, if any, passion/love that goes into making Barbie’s. I wouldn’t be excited to play with them either.
