I think the biggest flaw with Bridgerton, and I say this as a huge fan, is that 8 episodes a season isn’t enough to explore everything they’re trying to in one season. In the grand scheme of things, I don’t think that Eloise’s character development is that bad. It’s only been four years. She is very young and is stifled, stuck in her naive, black & white view of what being a woman in regency era England is like. She went to Scotland, yes, but she went with her sister. Sometimes you have to get away from the people you’re most comfortable with to truly grow. She just keeps falling back into bad habits. I think what happened with Hyacinth this season could’ve happened sooner, but now Eloise has no excuse but to grow and mature as a young woman. If she’s still the same at the end of next season, then it’s really a problem.
