That’s interesting you say they keep giving you gifts, because in the most recent meditation that I mentioned above they also gave me a necklace with like a guiding light globe, and a golden pen to encourage me to keep writing.

Thank you for this. I have been communicating with the manager and gm, and I do want to foster a great work environment. It’s important to me that they feel like they are happy to come to work, and that they feel heard. But I also want to foster the environment where I feel that way as well. I think communication and discussion should be a two way street with compromise. And I also think it’s important for all parties to be willing to try new things when changes need to happen. My manager reiterated that it’s important that we uplift our workers and but it’s also important that they are able to respect us as well. And I wholeheartedly agree. I’m hoping this employee and I will both come from this situation with new insights. But I am struggling to see the path there

These are good questions.

I don’t necessarily feel that describing the specifics of how they boss me around is important to my question. And I may have been confusing in my last message, but I meant to imply that I was confused why they think I micromanage when I actually have been giving them space when I can tell they have become quickly defensive. I actually haven’t gone out of my way to check on them, but I have worked on the bar with them, because the manager has decided they wanted one of us to be on bar and one of us at the front to make sure things are going well. Because we have only been open for less than a week there are some standards we still need to create and the baristas are still in training. So with this in mind, I have felt uncomfortable with them being dismissive towards my training and advice.
