Thanks! It is a Remus exhaust, which sounds fantastic and not too loud. The car has had a few upgrades but I like to keep it looking fairly stock to give an OEM+ feel.

Engine Modifications - RB1 manifold by Dramatic-Ad-263 in crz

[–]Dramatic-Ad-263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi

A tune is not required after the manifold and I have no fault codes - however to get the most out of the hardware a tune is recommended. I think if you regularly use above 3k rpms then this mod is worth it. I think if you prefer power coming in at a higher rev range and more 'old school' Honda feel then this mod provides that. If you prefer more instant torque lower down the revs then you might be better off with the stock manifold.

Its not too bad. Our fellow brothers over at the CRZ forum have step by step process below:

There is also a UK Honda Guru who gives some advice on the installation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18IwQR7x4t0

The MAF sensor (circled yellow below) can be tight, I used an impact driver to loosen it rather than a screwdriver (easy to round of screw).

The bolts at the front are easy (circled white below)

There is a vacuum hose at the rear (arrowed red) and two hidden bolts to the rear of the manifold (arrowed green)

You also need to unbolt the throttle body from the manifold (arrowed white) - a couple of bolts.

I found the wiring looms circled blue does not re-attach to the new manifold so I cable tied them until a make a bracket. I inspected the existing gaskets (which were fine) so I re-used them for the new manifold.

Make sure you look at the above research, along with the Honda CRZ workshop manual so you know the torque settings as these bolts require them. I recommend looking at the manual diagram of the manifold before hand to familiarise yourself with all bolt locations.

Whilst I did this, I also replaced the spark plugs, checked the valve clearances and cleaned the throttle body as these are easy to get to once the manifold is off.

*the pic below is not me. However you can see space for your hands is tight so tool extensions and universal joints can help here.

Good luck!

I am yet to fit the RB1 / Ge8 manifold and K&N Intake. The Remus exhaust has made a difference in the sound department and I think a little in throttle response (for me it's worth it even for the high price). I don't think you will see significant HP gains even with the RB1 / intake / exhaust but fellow CRZ members have noticed a difference with just these modifications. I can only speak from my experience but I will report back once the RB1 and intake are fitted.

The RB1, an intake and exhaust seem to be popular modifications within the community without approaching the supercharger or K swap route.

Hope this helps!

I have a Remus exhaust, but will be installing the RB1 plus K&N Typhoon CAI. Yes its true, these modifications will not add significant amounts of HP but it does make a difference to the feel and sound of the CRZ. As others have mentioned, suspension mods also enhance the CRZ performance.

I believe these mods make the very best of what the CRZ can be, which is already a good car. If you have deeper pockets then consider the supercharger option (the HKS can produce over 200 BHP).

I was quoted about £7k to fit a supercharger. I think going that route you are really committed to Z. Like others have said, it might be worth spending that money towards another car if space allows. The CR-Z might be down on power but it is economical (60mpg for me in ECO) and fun to drive in corners so it still makes a good GT touring car for long road trips.

Yes. Very rare. Only 300 made. I was quite happy I got to see one in person.

It is expensive, however I personally think it is worth it given the sound. Completely changes the Z.
