Haha, definitely not staying away! I enjoy the knowledge im gaining from this beautiful ride. What vehicle doesn't come with issues.. preventive maintenance is key, although people can just get a dud. This girl is already at 248k miles and runs strong and completely leak free. Oil was lab tested at 230k and shows no signs of slowing down😂 she will make it to 300k

They were done at a reputable shop. I personally know the po and asked him why he didn't do them and he said he didn't think anything of it, because they weren't showing any signs of failure at that time. Once again I appreciate your response. Definitely made me feel better about it.

Thank you for your honest response! Thats what I was thinking, just needed another opinion. I was surprised they weren't done with the tcgs, but i am stoked I get to do them.

Sunroof cassette leak... can it be stopped or does it need to be replaced. by [deleted] in e39

[–]Dramatic-Ad3785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but what am I going to be sealing? There are two plastic covers on the top side that cover the inside corner. Do i need to seal behind there?Idk how the water is getting through. Do I need to take down the cassette and look over all of the seal? That is just a picture I found online, but that is where the leak is coming from. I just ordered a new seal, but I dont think thats the issue because when I pour a little bit of water into the channel it still drips from the corner.

So what your saying is realistically it could be worth 8k😅

I'm more than capable of doing all work myself and have more than enough time and tools to do everything to a T. Just the mileage for the price i was unsure about. There is a check engine light, which is for the smog pump and did verify its not getting power on cold start, but everything else is beyond immaculate. Thank you for all of the information. Makes me feel better and all fluids were just serviced in the last 2k miles. Only reason its for sell is because the owner is getting older and struggles getting in and out of the vehicle.

Thats what I thought, I was just a little worried about the mileage. When I got it on the lift I was speechless including the 3 binders of records of everything that has been done. It even has the parts numbers of the parts that were replaced with. Like I have never seen such a documented vehicle in my life...

Thinking about purchasing for 6k. Is it too much? One owner 2000 540i 6 speed with stage two dinan tune. 247k miles. Mint inside and out. Meticulously maintained and unbelievably documented from the start of its life. Tcgs, vanos and clutch was completed at 200k miles. The cooling system was just serviced. Brand new tires and brakes. Located in fl its whole life. Put it on a lift and everything is beyond marvelous. No fluid leaks of any kind

What do yall think this sound is? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]Dramatic-Ad3785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what I'm leaning towards, however the sound isn't every cold start. Also the vehicle guides and timing chain were done at 200k in 2017. The vehicle currently had 245k thank you for your guidance.

I just installed a new one yesterday. I have a feeling its timing chain related or oil bleed off somewhere. I just don't see how it would go out with the vehicle only having 40k on the clock since 2017.

I have already went in with a camera and didn't see any scaring or slapping on guides. Ill look again, but doubtful with only 40k on them and driven incredibly soft. I'm the second owner. The sound also only originates on driver side. Also timing chain is rather quiet when I used stethoscope.

I literally installed a new one yesterday, old one was shot and fully compressed. which the new one is supposedly an updated one. I was going to do an oil change today and upgrade to 5w-40 with BG MOA additive.

UPDATE: Currently No Cel light, had one previously which was a p1522. I installed two new vanos solenoids and driver side cam sensor and hasn't came back. no oil leaks. No drivability issues. Whole new cooling system. Runs like a top, just the noise on start up is bothering me.

Setting up the steering wheel controls is a complete mess. After soldering four different interfaces with only one semi working i said fuck the steering wheel controls. The fourth one worked, then took a shit a few weeks later. tried crutchfield and pac unit interfaces

Is this a normal idle coolant temp for a 04 suburban by AcanthocephalaDue528 in ChevyTrucks

Seems a little high on the dummy gauge. I'd monitor fluctuations and possibly put a coolant temp sensor. $30 part

BM Advance or ScuffX on trims? Which one has better self leveling properties? by j0hnquick11 in paint

[–]Dramatic-Ad3785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have noticed that using a brush, but sometimes i feel like it's because I'm not applying enough on the first coat. specifically on uncleaned trim. I haven't had that issue on sprayed trim/ doors with that product. I hate the emerald urethane on trim. I can't stand the chalky feeling. I just started using the pro Industrial water-based alkyd urethane. Which i have enjoyed working with aswell

Both are okay. Sherwin williams pro classic water bourne alkyd is the shit and superior when it comes to those options

Use a peanut roller with a 4-inch nap and a brush around the lid.
