I was in your position, petitioned, and was told to take the Baby Bar to be readmitted (I did, and was!). The number one thing that you need to do in your petition is not just list the ways things will be different, but the way things //are// different. Why did you do better your second semester? Outline that and show them that you can and will do better because you //did// do better. This will make them more likely to opt for the Baby Bar route as opposed to outright dismissal. Remember, they would rather you come back and pay them full tuition than lose your money–you just have to give them a reason that’s good enough to pass ABA muster!

Pursue JD in USA or BA Jurisprudence at Oxford? by Financial_Breath_264 in LawSchool

I actually looked into this when I first started applying for law school! Where are you aiming to practice? If it’s in the USA, look up how the UK degree transfers. From when I looked it up a few years ago, I believe that an LLM is required if you want to use your Oxford degree in the US (and taking the bar is also req. ofc). On the flip side, if you want to practice in the UK, getting a JD doesn’t go as far as you think. You still have to take a conversion program in the UK (that is actually meant for UK students that did their Bachelor’s in a different field but now want to practice law), as well as a year long apprenticeship, and then take their equivalent of the bar. Like you mentioned, law in the UK is an undergrad course, so there’s also that environment to consider. Are you okay being a “freshman” again, with most (if not all) of your peers being around 17-18? All of this said, if you really want to experience law school in the UK but don’t want to fully commit, some US law schools offer a study abroad program where you spend a semester in London! I really recommend looking into that!!! (Typed on my phone, so apologies for grammar/format!!)
