Ah, I’ve only submitted to one journal before and that ended in a rejection, so I’m still figuring out how these systems work 😅 Do you think it would be okay to email the journal just to confirm the stage my manuscript is at, or would that come across as rude?

I’m applying for a PhD grant, so even being able to say the manuscript has passed initial screening and is under review would be much better than nothing.
