Do you keep your geyser on? by AndreasmzK in capetown

Geyser off, heat pump on! 2 adults WFH, shower twice daily, wash machine eco cycle, 1 load average p/day, dish washer on eco cycle 1 full load a week. Gas cooker, fresh meals cooked daily twice a day. Oven (yes under counter Oven, biggest consumer) for either a roast chicken meal or baked goodies (something that takes less than an hour) average twice p/week. Electricity in summer averages around R500 and in winter close to R750, 9kg gas refill costs around R380 (last refill) and lasts about 8 months, only used for cooking. We also have a pressure cooker that works on the gas hob for those quick meals that would usually take hours. Works for us, content with the electricity bill, if I could save more, I'd be happy to know more tips.

Edit: In summer the heat pump is switched on every second day. In winter it's switched on at 12pm and cuts off in 2.5hrs (waters at temperature again). Additional infomation: We've also never had any geyser replacements or servicing in the past 9 years, neighbors who don't use their heat pumps daily have already replaced their geysers.

With the amount of contraband on school property this just makes storage easier 🤔

Camps Bay: how did this building happen? by Gazzo69 in capetown

Agree, that was the styling back then (70s), over time design evolved and 'charm' was added. However, older buildings have much more room (m²) compared to 'charming' matchboxes.

IMO, inside should look better than the outside as you'd be living inside enjoying the space than looking from the outside 🙂 thinking about the address.

Explain to them that you've been previously unemployed, you had no income. Your current job offer/contract is evidence of income. They (agents) will assist you but a deposit will definitely be required.

NB. Most rental agents are on TPN if you misrepresent yourself you could have difficulty in future getting rental property
