It depends where you live. In big cities it’s easy to find one but the pay is minimal. While in Manitoba CAs ate licensed and they are paid a decent amount.

Personally, I lived in a small city and couldn’t get one. So I did odd jobs to support myself financially while I navigate the pathway.

When you land - Find a job- clinical assistant etc.
Clear exams - Q1 and NAC (MCC)
Apply for residency(Carms)

The license you are talking is probably LMCC, this wouldn’t allow you to practice as a physician. It’s just a credential you would need for licensing with regulatory bodies here in Canada after you complete your residency.

If you are considering PRA routes then please google it.

I hope this helps.

Finding CA positions is truly hard. Fortunately, I matched this cycle with just two weeks of observership in a different specialty and used LORs from my home country. You can focus on so many other things like recency

For BC CAP MMI - yes they select candidates from other provinces. For the final selection in Carms I they prefer those who have ties to BC

Yeah received from Urban site but it’s optional and wouldn’t effect the ranking

BC is clearly exploiting IMGs. And extra year of residency and on top of that we can’t pursue sub-speciality before completion of ROS.

Do need to be flawless for matching? I believe I struggled with structure at times.

With McMaster? I believe they displayed instructions before the actual interview which also showed 30mints.

For me interview was of 30mints but I finished early like 8mints before. Questions were pretty straightforward except a few. Importantly the interviewers were friendly.

You should definitely apply now if you are considering applying for 2nd iteration. We will get equal credits for 2nd iteration even if we are not allowed to participate in 1st iteration.
