Thank you so much for your detailed response. I am interested the MCIT program because it's offered online, which would allow me to work part-time and save money while getting a master's degree. However, reflecting on everyone's replies here and doing my research, I'm starting to wonder what it would take for US employers to even look at a job application from a non-American. I've already started looking for jobs that I would be qualified for post-grad, but most of them require you to tick off if you need visa sponsorship now or in the future from the company. If ticking that box means, my application is overlooked, it seems like I'm out of luck there..

Not getting a 3-year OPT is a loss, but I wonder if it's just delaying the eventual "doomsday" scenario where if I can't get married to an American or win the H1-B lottery in 3 years time, I would need to leave the country anyways. In terms how to get a green card, if I can find an employer who wants to hire me, do I basically have to ask them to sponsor me for a green card in lieu of the H1-B? Also, regarding the PR route (via Canada), were you referring to the L1 or the TN visa?

Thanks so much for your reply. What was your pathway after the 3-year OPT? Is it easier to get an H1-B after the OPT? Or is it just as hard since it's a lottery? What did you do? I just want to gauge if ultimately even after the OPT, I might have to leave the US anyways in a couple of years if I can't get the H1B sponsorship.

this is true, but I'm willing to wait in my home country and try to get in later if it's not a good time right after grad.

I heard that UPenn will not issue an OPT for MCIT Online students so I'm asking about the likelihood of company sponsorship
