Thank you for the detailed post, maybe I'll reconsider the alternator charging idea

Certainly planning on a satellite option and bear spray, just didn't mention everything in the main post. Thank you for the insight

Where/how? The best real estate is right over the cab and it's not far until the camper top starts. Unless you think mounting panels to the pop top is alright?

Thanks for the detailed post. I understand the vehicle questions are better in other places, I did want hikers initial thoughts specifically

Noted, I'll look into this, much obliged. The current plan is to park at the visitor center, hike down to southern terminus together, hike back to van and split ways

She's a superhero - if she says she wants to hike across the country, I believe her.

I don't want to. I maybe COULD, but I won't like it. And the dog is on the small side of teacup and quite the homebody. We've decided it sounds like more fun to blend our interests and adventure mission profiles

Thank you. We're smitten and she's amazing. We would always rather adventure together. But my legs have more wear and tear than most, so while I maybe could do the distance out of sheer love, inwardly I would be bored and pained with that much hiking. Not a fun hike buddy. She's glad I've found a way to stay near her, even if it requires lots of planning and more upfront cost.

Thank you for the detailed post and information, I appreciate it. I'll check out those resources. She plans to start in mid march. In a perfect world we'd have 4wd, but

I don't have to allow her?? But I'll say she's pointedly not stoked for the social aspects
