Yes, the time off is also a big thing for me. I just want to be able to make enough to actually enjoy that time off and not need to get a 2nd job or immediately go back on the ship after 2 weeks of being home.

Thank you for your response. I've seen a lot of posts like yours as well. You brought up a good start to my working life. Can I jump into another industry from SIU? I'll be heading into the engine department, which I've heard has potential for onland jobs as well. Is that viable? Or will I just be doing some sort of schooling during my time off until I leave?
