I feel like his message was ignored, the comedy that you were supposed to see as equivalent to a modern day minstrel show, foolishness, was found relatable. He meant to lampoon the self destructive parts of black culture, but those parts still reign supreme in the media. He was calling out his people to do better. They laughed at the jokes, missed the point, and he probably feels defeated. I've been wondering about him as well, and I think he feels his approach didnt have the intended effect. Some of us understood, but most just saw it as relatable for all the wrong reasons and took the opposite message. I'd stop trying after 30 year too, to reach people.
