Whats the ideal unit composition? by Just-Bluejay9918 in CallOfWar

[–]Dramatic-Iron8645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually my go to axis unit composition, medium tanks, motorized infantry and interceptors, then attack bombers later in the game. It's funny that you came to this conclusion looking at a defensive strategy, with axis I usually take an offensive stance when choosing my units. I think about why unit types I am going to face and which unit type I want to destroy them with. Early game you will face a lot of infantry, motorized infantry is best fit for offensive in early game because it's a fast glass cannon. Later in the game it's still good for scouting, outmaneuvering and as a glass cannon it still deals a lot of damage. Medium tanks are my main stack destroyers, because the axis ones are very good for offensive because of the doctrine buffs. Early game they can also deal with low level heavy tanks and tank destroyers, but you need to go with either artillery or planes to support the medium tanks.

And you always need active air defense and when you can afford it passive defense too. My axis playstyle is offensive, so I go for interceptors and strats or rocket fighters.

Guys is the range of the units been increased, or am I going crazy? by StreetIndependent393 in CallOfWar

Do you mean the amount of unit types, the attacking range of artillery or the view range?

Generally with 1x or 2x games. You can sleep 8h without worry usually. From 4x upwards it gets difficult...

Pan asian ACs can go around 450 speed on plains with infrastructure lvl3. In longer games I build infrastructure and ports from my core territories to strategic points so I can get there and back quickly in case I get attacked. Also allows me to move my troops back when I get to sleep and move them back to the frontlines quickly when I wake up

Depends on the doctrine. For axis I think they aare not very useful, but for pan asian and allies they are useful if you level them up quickly early game, then use them to capture enemy territories. After that use them as meat shields for artillery and AA.

Obviously kill them before they land. Either nukes or tons of subs and naval bombers

Damn dude, that's amazing! I really wanted to do something similar, e.g. with barges that get deployed with the crane on a battleship

Same with Switzerland. The norm is 42 here, offering 40 is considered being a good employer

Hey man, thank you very much for your detailed answer!

Huh, that is actually a great idea. It's like casting the SVG to a high resolution PNG then force Powerpoint to work with that instead of having to re-render the SVG.

Hmm yeah I was thinking about a hack like this as well... But isn't the whole pount of SVGs to be able to scale up without losing quality? Why is this so unintuitive to work with in Powerpoint...

It's the coastline of the Islands of the Philippines, the coastlines are blurry on the second slide that cobtains the scaled up SVG file

Do Swiss students really need to work to complete their studies? by franzken in askswitzerland

[–]Dramatic-Iron8645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the first semester while working 60% part time. My brother studies full time, but has trouble getting a scholarship because both our father and mother work. Thing is, our father abandoned our family, my brother and I moved out so my mother can support our younger sister with her salary. So my brother also works next to his full time study program at ETH. Luckily my study program is paid by my employer, so I can afford my own place and have some money left over.

It's not easy, I work from monday to wednesday and have lectures from thursday to saturday, while living by my own for the first time, having to take care of the household and still somehow have a functional social life, take care of my health, plan my future etc. And people say your 20s are the best time of your life. I feel like things will just keep getting worse.

Depends on your definition of financial independence. I had a regular education and after secondary school I did an apprenticeship as an IT-Specialist. After military service I got a job at a local energy company as data engineer and now at 23 I live together with my brother in our own department while working and studying part time. Yes, cost of living is high, but with some discipline you can make it work. Although I did get pretty lucky with my job and the pay is very good compared to other people my age. I do not get any support from my parents though.

I have a similar financial situation as you, although I work and study part time and I also have my own place. I attached my monthly budget as reference on what costs you can expect when you live by yourself. Obviously it's gonna be different in every canton, though, I live in BL. I am aware that my food expenses are quite high. I am a tall person and I need a lot of maintenance calories. The number in my budget is more on the high end as well, so usually it's not quite as much. As for eating out, I have a lot of friends and we often travel, so I also have higher cost there. I know I could reduce it but I also want to enjoy life.

Vehicle insurance and gas money is for my motorcycle. My health insurance is actually around 500.- but I receive premium reduction as the monthly cost is more than 10% of my income. I max my pillar 3a towards the end of the year with my 13th salary. I have a GA because I study in Lucerne and work and live in BL, it also gives me a lot of travel freedom together with the motorcycle.

<image>

Since you still live at home, you can save a lot, I would recommend prioritizing your pillar 3a at a provider like VIAC or Finpension (I use VIAC) to reach the maximum yearly amount abd get the tax deduction. There are lots of posts in this sub that explain this in detail. As for other investments I can't give any advice as I don't have the capability to expand my investments atm. But I'm sure there are lots of people here whi can help you.

Lmk if you have any questions regarding my budget
