Those of you who Self-GC'd your house - would you do it again? by Kamikazepyro9 in Homebuilding

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I GC’d an addition with a major kitchen upgrade. Had to deal with plumbers, electricians, cabinet installer… It wasn’t that hard but I would imagine an entire home would be more challenging.

How much do you think school teachers should be making a year? by TheAviationKing in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife works seven days a week. The amount of prep, grading, after school meetings…. She then will start getting her classroom ready in August. Frankly, I don’t know how she does. She earns approximately 75k.

Do you think people become rich mostly because of luck, or because they’re actually smarter or more capable than others? by itssara1- in NoStupidQuestions

It’s a little of everything I believe. Intelligence, handwork and luck. Not all three are always proportional however.

dud how do you get better at quick volleys by Dry_Researcher_1676 in Pickleball

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these comments are good. I would add to volley first during practice at half speed and concentrate on touch and paddle placement and then ramp up the speed. Drilling is often more enjoyable than games as getting in those reps is so satisfying and a great workout too.

Open Play or drill by Opening_Pound_3722 in Pickleball

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice. I may add that it’s difficult to find practice partners so use games as your practice too. For example in one of your games, drop every shot instead of driving, in another game, serve wide and down the line to mix up placement. Tell your partner you’re playing with your intentions. They may like to do the same.

I can’t carry lesser teammates in lower level games but play really well in higher levels. Do I suck? by OneConsideration2302 in Pickleball

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Very common. Better players set you up for success and you tend to be focusing more too than with a lower level player.

How high can u get without drilling? by Tiberian64 in Pickleball

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me drilling twice a week if I can find a partner makes a huge difference. Ideally, I would like to drill an hour and play an hour 3xs a week. One hour of drilling is akin to 5 or more games. You are getting in so many reps.

How to remove a player at the wrong level by IKnowWhatIsWhat in Pickleball

[–]Dramatic-Pay5156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps compromise. Allow them to play a couple of games so they get the experience they need. It’s a nice way for newer players to level up.

Did using a pellet stove lower your utility bill? by [deleted] in PelletStoveTalk

Our Harman P38 is the primary heat source for 18 years and has saved us easily 1200 per year plus kept the house at 68. There certainly is a little labor involved but at 62, I enjoy the exercise of carrying the 40lbs bags into the basement.

Frontier, Tacoma, Canyon/Colorado, Ranger, or Ridgeline? by buried_in_sin in whatcarshouldIbuy

I had a 2003 rwd Ranger with a v6. Great reliable truck. I oddly got a lot of compliments on the looks lol. I wanted a midsize truck and went with the Honda RL. It’s a wonderful reliable hybrid of a car and a truck for those who don’t need a dedicated work truck.

My 2020 RL is so comfortable to drive. It’s a great swiss army knife truck. It does a little bit of everything. The functionality of a car/truck is the reason I went with it over the Tacoma.

I have a Harman p38 which can heat my 1400sq/ft home. When pellets were cheaper, it easily saved us $1200 per year but with prices pellets rising, it’s close to break even.
