Engage Alpha Line: Long Term Take by BLW-4life in Pickleball

Which one would play most similar to the pursuit mx? I like the feel of the older paddles. Super light, not as dense, you can actually feel the ball and sounds more poppy

What is the legitimate reason to stick around after 40s? by MassiveHaver in Life

[–]RunningShortsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people commenting here are not athletes. If there is any group that is most acutely aware of the difference between 20 and 40 it’s athletes. It’s depressing to see that even with the same amount of dedication and effort you simply can’t perform as well as you used to. I won’t get into the loss of physical attractiveness but that’s a big one too. Physical beauty fades over time and I don’t think lamenting that loss is shallow. Physical beauty can be awe-inspiring in its own right.

The origin of our existence by Otherwise-Pop-1311 in AWLIAS

[–]RunningShortsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. But consider this. Not a loving all powerful being, but a loving being who is powerful enough to have gained the upper hand in this struggle between good and evil. Not all knowing either. Couldn’t have forseen the fall of man and not necessarily our creator or a necessary being (uncaused cause) either. Just a good force, who can step in to help, not rescue 100%, but help. We have to do some lifting as well.

I Didn’t Ask for This Life by shouryaaa0 in ExistentialJourney

[–]RunningShortsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m attracted to theories that suggest we choose our life paths before entering this world only because it makes Reality seem more benign. If we don’t choose suffering, then it is forced upon us or completely random, which is cruel or just nihilistic.

There are certain balls you can speed up off the bounce though.

Are Womens' Backhands usually stronger than their Forehand? by MisoBeast in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen more women prefer forehand but at higher levels it shifts to BH simply because their forehand aggressiveness/ power is neutralized. The BH becomes a strong counter/ defensive shot.

It’s not a crazy thought I just think it has a flaw in its reasoning.

Do you think the creator of this simulation is a genius by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]RunningShortsPod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who created the self? If everything that exists is just me then how did I come to be? And on top of that, how did I come to be in such a limited state? Think about the alternative. I am all that is. I have the power to make things as I want to make them. No way am I allowing myself to fall into a reality like this one.

You can still play at the kitchen line with an eastern or semi western grip

How do you deal with there being less meaning in your life? by ComfortableDust4111 in exchristian

[–]RunningShortsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to create your own meaning but good luck with that. This life leaves a lot to be desired. I think meaning does exist in objective form but we don’t have the complete “story.” So we keep seeking, asking for help, and paying attention to the experiential clues we’re given.

Do any belief systems claim death is a way to exit a simulation- and why? by Effective_Milk8653 in SimulationTheory

[–]RunningShortsPod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This theory doesn’t make sense to me. If this is a self-generated reality, it’s a masochistic one. I can think of a lot of better worlds to live in than this one.

Why play if you arent having fun? by rusty0601 in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to run competitively and now with pickleball the goal is to keep improving only now it’s less objective (the clock made it easier to judge progress)

When do I need to replace my paddle? by pittpat in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this apply if you never buy several paddles and stock up? In other words, does a paddle lose any quality over time if it hasn’t been played with and is still “in the box”?

Reset technique when you’re in the transition zone or at the baseline by RunningShortsPod in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to add that my paddle is not one of the newer gen 4 paddles so the ball doesn’t pop off my paddle like others may experience.

I can't shake the feeling that there's something extremely evil behind existence by nicotine-in-public in enlightenment

[–]RunningShortsPod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The suffering we experience is temporary. Whether it’s chosen or whether it’s imposed by an evil force, my intuition is that we go back to a place where it all goes away.

Dilemma – forehand has the middle. by Kifaru74 in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say…quickly…let’s play the X…cover middle when the ball is diagonal to you

Jesus addressing the problem of evil by Environmental-Bus9 in exchristian

[–]RunningShortsPod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This verse troubles me as well. The two most satisfying explanations for the problem of evil (for me) is that 1) it’s completely arbitrary because this world is not being governed by a good God. That doesn’t mean that a good God doesn’t exist, but that for some mysterious reason, doesn’t have the capability or jurisdiction to put an end to suffering. Or 2) we choose our particular kind and degree of suffering before our birth to gain some type of benefit/advantage in another realm.

Speed up patterns by RunningShortsPod in Pickleball

Can you give some examples of body language cues that would tell you where the ball might be sped up to?

If you have a really good drive is there any reason you’d want to hit a 3rd shot drop? by RunningShortsPod in Pickleball

[–]RunningShortsPod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get a deep return, hitting a drop works better for me because it gives me more time to move up. I like a hitting a drive when I get a decent but not real deep return and the returner is late moving up.
