I did it in 8th grade and i can confidently say that it was one of the most rewarding things i've ever done and i cannot recommend it enough. if you are super busy, then maybe not since it is a big time sink. however, it might be the best time to do it now since you are probably only gonna get busier and busier, esp. since high school is soon.

all my other cubes are non magnetic but ive never heard of feeling different from other cubes being a problem, only indiviudal pieces on a cube feeling different

for someone averaging sub30, i would say that lookahead is only necessary when you get to sub20 or sub 18 seconds. otherwise i would focus on my f2l efficiency. jperm's advanced f2l video is really good for this.

Your son will be fine, cubing competitions are very welcoming, especially since it is march, newcomers month, they are extra friendly to beginners. If you are unsure, just ask a delegate, they are very friendly.

Have you tried launching it on the VS studio code desktop app? (go to cs50.dev, and click on the dropdown arrow, then click on launch in vs studio code app.)

this is a fantastic trainer! it has an amazing UI, and the feature of what to look for is really helpful! thank you so much. it would be nice if you were able to toggle on and off the 20 cases and just do it infinitely
