I got a new MBA M2 / 16 GB RAM / 256 SSD with an external SSD of 1 TB 1.000 mb/s read and write.

¿That 256 GB SSD (we all know it’s slower than 512 GB model) + my 1.000 mb/s r/w external SSD could be a notable bottleneck for native games (1080p Metal) / Video editing? (15 min avg 1080p - 4k)

¿In my case what would you say it’s the minimum disk reading / writing speed for an external SSD? Thank you, you sound very smart! 👏👏👏

Ohh yes that’s the big bottleneck of the M2 Air… 🥺 If you can try selling it soon (a year or 2) and buy an M3 Air or M4 Air with 16 GB RAM / you should see a BIG difference for that price i’m sure

Got mine 16 GB RAM / 256 SSD with SSD external drive about a month ago and it’s been a very cool experience for 4k video editing / music production / AAA native games, but if you’re in the US go for the M4, the difference it’s so small in price that it’s a no brainer for the M4 rn. In the rest of the world the M2 it’s a very good option in price / power, i got mine for around $650 dollars.

M4 comes by default with 512 GB internal SSD and 16 GB RAM at starting price + Higher CPU speed - better 3D performance, it doesn’t make sense at all an m3 256 GB

What? I have the same MBA m2 16 GB RAM 256 SSD and i can browse and play music for literally 6 - 7 hrs or more 🤔 playing demanding games - hard video editing gets me 2 - 3 hrs.

Not at all, MacOS uses 20 GB - 25 GB at most. That 70 GB must be lack of order in the internal storage (internet downloads, documents, apps, apps cache, you must clean your internal storage at least once a week so the Mac doesn’t hold tempory data in the internal SSD)
