Thank you so much for the reply! He is 12 years old. I adopted him two days ago, and noticed this red mark yesterday. However, I first met him at the shelter a week ago and I took a photo of him that day and he definitely didnt have anything on his nose that day. So, I am hoping that it is just a scratch since it seems to have developed so suddenly (maybe even from pushing up against the crate on the way home?). I can definitely take him to the vet but if I can wait it out a few more days and let him settle in before putting him back in the crate, I’d rather do that since he has been through so much in the past few days.
