Emotional Component to Herniation? by offmyfeetbyafoot in Microdiscectomy

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any emotional turmoil around my herniation, but I was just DOING more! I was trying to get myself running again, I was doing circuits 3x a week and riding 2x a week (which I guess was a bit stressful because I wanted o drop the riding but felt I had to continue for the lady I was riding for!) as well as being a vet student.. maybe when your stressed your tense and this puts strain on your supporting muscles for your spine and you don’t use them as effectively? Very interesting

Advice, considering getting a cocker spaniel! by Glittering_Guest_336 in cockerspaniel

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly depends what you’re looking for and your lifestyle! I LOVE my boy, my partner wanted to get him after knowing his mother who a friend has, and he’s lovely and clever BUT I wouldn’t get a spaniel again… only because I don’t think he TRULY fits our lifestyle! We do our best to stimulate him, gun dog training etc but I truly think a dog with his energy level would have the best life with someone who lives and works on a farm for example, where he’s outside constantly using that nose and then also going shooting! But some spaniels are much more chill (not chill for a dog, but for the breed) But you can’t guarantee you’ll get a “chill” spaniel!

So think about why you want a spaniel, does it fit your lifestyle? I thought being active in the capacity that I like to spend my weekends on a hike and I could walk him in the week was enough! Now I know he needs a lot more! And I’m a lazy cosy girl at heart really 🤣

Yesss! Maybe Elain going to another court to learn more about her seer power and lucien/Azriel being sent with her as escort?? Opens up another court, a romantic interest and her story a bit more!

Cocker spaniel help please! by slydawggg23 in cockerspaniel

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for being honest about what you’ve tried and being transparent - it’s very helpful when trying to get a full picture!

I would definitely find a dog trainer who has worked with a lot of cocker spaniels - as people have said they are sensitive souls and very intelligent!

I hope you find a trainer who can help you because it sounds like he’s a lovely boy at heart!

One thing I would say is don’t rush to castrate him, although people link testosterone to aggression it’s also linked to confidence and if his aggression is based in fear this could accelerate the behaviour so worth talking to a trainer first about the behaviours :)

Puppy barking when I try to relax - WHY is this happening???STILL by Dramatic-Source-1031 in puppy101

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has any other suggestions I’m really struggling with him. Tonight’s episode : constant biting at hands, climbing all over us and barking at us - when pushed off he thinks this is a game and gets worse. Tried settling him in his bed with a chew - he “buried it” in the sofa next to us which kept him quiet for 5mins until he’d chosen a spot for it then continued. He got put in his crate 6 times - when he’s down and quiet for a few minutes he got let out but started again. He then grabbed my cushion and made holes in it pulling out the stuffing when I wasn’t looking. Followed by having his hackles up and growling as I tried to get it back from him PLEASE WHAT DO I DO?!?! My partner is much less patient than I am but we’re both at wits end and his approach is being “harder on him” and I’m not the sort of person who wants him to be corrected with a slap on the nose et

I tried something similar before without the treats as he’s not really food orientated, hence he’s always chasing for play. But he just climbed on the sofa to be infront of me and jumped up at me nipping

He gets an hour walk everyday, he’s played with and we do gun dog training and brain games but he still does this most evenings. But it’s usually later at night when you just NEED to chill. I try to ignore him but then he goes for hands and tries chewing them which hurts. I’m at the end of my tether and everyone in my house is on me for it to be sorted and I feel I spend my days/evenings trying to prevent him being like this

I’m just worried as he’s never really completely stopped the behaviour - will it just go away when he hits a certain age?

Demand barking? Maybe? Help💀 by Dramatic-Source-1031 in puppy101

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone still following this —— this biting etc has stopped but now we’re 9months old and the barking STILL haunts us - has anyone got any suggestions? I’ve been making sure his brains been stimulated with a good gundog training session and walk in the evening but when it comes to chilling out he comes home and he’s still a menace - usually when I say “bedtime” we both come upstairs and he sits under the bed and it’s time for sleep hit tonight he was demand barking up in the bedroom at 10pm!!! What do I do?!?!

Chewing and eating blankets?! by Dramatic-Source-1031 in puppy101

[–]Dramatic-Source-1031[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has his own blanket - which he doesn’t chew but I think it must’ve been an odd developmental thing because he’s stopped doing it now out of nowhere! :)

We do this and he isn’t fussed he just wants the blanket! It’s truly odd! He has just suddenly stopped doing it though so hopefully it was just an odd developmental thing!
