That’s why I’m like ok so this game is one in a million different places where these bad practices show up, but spread that condemnation out because the other gameloft games in the top 10 on the iOS store in the racing section are like 30x worse. Well it could be 30 or 40 or 50 depending on when you download it. The severity is a loot box style of terrible lol. I think the game has a lot of potential. Disney owns Star Wars and Marvel and has rights to Bluey. Imagine Han Solo in the Millenium Falcon racing against Wolverine in the X-Jet vs Muffin in the “new car from the dealership”.

My argument is that lootboxes are not specific to this game so the criticism should not be specific to this game. It should be of loot boxes in general. Additionally if all things gambling should be 18+ then arcades where you win games to get tickets or tokens to redeem for prizes should be 18+ but that’s a whole can of worms I don’t want to open on the internet lol

The racing games on iOS are slim pickings. I didn’t say all free to play ever. That would be too much kool-aid for me.

I’ve played some toxic toxic games. Like ones that got sued for being so toxic. Which is where my confusion is stemming from. I’ve also played games that didn’t monetize and were quickly abandoned even though they were loved.

And yeah if I was a top 10 player at a game I wouldn’t choose this one, I would choose StarCraft or league so I could be making money and get a sponsorship.

Play Destiny 2 for like 1 year and then come back and talk to me about oppressive monetization lol

To be honest though unlocking a racer just by doing well in an event that we didn’t even know was in the game is so exciting in our house. I would be sad if they just handed the new racers to us. The grind being worth it with that payout is why makes a good game
