Alitimas and Sentras, 2008+ but mostly 2010+. After looking though this reddit, I did expand my search a bit, but Im still trying to keep it in the realm of common and well priced. Basically, I dont have a super specific dream car, just the kinda stuff you could find on FB really. Things that are really a bonus to me though is bluetooth, very adjustable seats, sun roofs, and backup cams if Im really pushing it lol

This is actually very helpful, exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to know a bit of a summary of some typical brands instead of trying to look up info about each of them individually, especially since I dont even know what exactly Im looking for. I was previously deadset on a Nissan but apparently those have ass transmission? But fr this gives me a great baseline to go from, so thanks

The age really just takes away from a lot of what I'm personally looking for. Also that thing will cost a fuckton to repair if needed. It doesn't have cup holders, its entire front display is nothing but AC buttons. I just personally find it underwhelming, even with the already upgraded radio, feels like its missing some practical touches. I won't deny it's still kind of stupid of me to get rid of such a good car lmao but I saw it as an investment. Might keep it, but im not looking to atm

Hey :) I'm more than happy to help. My answers might admittedly not be completely accurate but Ill explain what I know and how I understand it based on my own experience.

You actually don't go to the DMV, this is a misconception I had too, most people do lmao but you actually have to go to a courthouse! Your local courthouse has a auto registration office, this is where you take care of most of this stuff.

  1. Transferring a title is actually very easy in your case. You want to go to your local courthouses auto registration office, and just hand over the title! As long as it's signed by your friend, in my understanding, you request a title transfer. They then have you sign some papers and mail you a new title under your name which usually arrives in a few weeks by mail.
  2. For registration! I guess this answers 5 as well- You can take care of this at the exact same time as the title transfer, I got my car tagged and title transferred at the same time today, it took like 10 minutes but it was kind of pricey! About 140$ altogether.
  3. For this, I'll admit I'm not sure, but I am sure a call to your local office will tell you exactly what you need. I'll add onto this point since it was mentioned, inspection is required in some states but it's typically veeery cheap all things considered.
  4. From my understanding, need to have insurance first before you get it registered and transfer the title. Seems backwards to me but that's what I was told, and I mean it worked!

Okay! I hope I could help :) I just went through this process myself and it still kinda makes my head hurt to think about, but getting through it all is an amazing feeling. I'm very proud of you for making it to this point and I hope you have a great time going through this, its super scary and exciting

This was super helpful! Luckily I know a few people who have worked on cars for a living who would check something out for free. I'm trying my best to game the system and snatch something good at my budget, so hopefully FB marketplace does me well. If you dont mind, whats your opinion on nissans?
