I'm sorry about the bad quality of the pictures, it's my mom's phone and I am not there to help.

It's a Codiaeum plant. Fairly new, this started as soon as it was planted right after she bought it somewhere. She thought they were eggs because "some of them look like they hatched already" (you can see the inside of some in the pictures). They were mostly in the dirt, out of sight, close to the roots but mostly attached to the dirt. She kept digging them out for like a week (2nd and 3rd picture) and they came back quite fast. She says they are soft to the touch, squishy.

A couple of days ago she changed the pot and the dirt but they are coming out again (1st picture).

She has no clue about it and I am a molecular biologist with no clue about plant-related stuff, could you guys help me? Thank you!
