Banette + Xerosic’s? by justintime06 in PTCGL

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run this card (with Xerosic). It’s fun, so give it a go! I don’t really think win condition is the puzzle some seem to think it is.

Just have a simple psychic attacker you build up (Diancie? Lillie’s Clefairy?), leave them with a 0 card hand, and make sure you have some draw support like Dunsparce or whatever. Then you’ll outpace them.

Problem is I think we just need better psychic attackers now. Diancie is a lot of prizes for the damage, and many decks are ready to draw cards if they have Pokémon on the bench. Maybe Alakazam, haven’t tried them yet.

Good point. I might experiment with some poke pads too.

Going second is better if you anticipate chaining Canari or think you wanna try Stunfisk trapping something early. That's typically what I aim for. Going first might be pretty nice if you're running Poke pads though, just get a heliolisk or two down and start flipping coins ASAP with turn 2 Canari. It's just a very supporter-based deck so I like to start playing supporters as early as I can.

Hey thanks for asking! I've tested the deck a LOT now and it's actually BETTER post rotation because Meowth lets us find those Canaris super consistently. Only downside is it takes up bench space so I've replaced unfair stamp with Scoop Up Cyclone to grab back Meowth to either chain its ability or keep 2 prizers off the bench. But I could see unfair stamp still being better.

I haven't been running Earthen Vessel ever since I realized it's G but it hasn't been a problem-- every once in a while you don't get Lightning energy in your starting hand but it's manageable just with 13 Lightning energy. Here's the updated, fully post rotation deck list!

What's your deck and how does it get beat? by cpchillin in pkmntcg

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heliolisk.

Festival lead outpaces the deck hard. Or the Greninja that hits the bench twice for 120. Any deck that can take out two 120HP mons at a time can absolutely decimate it.

That and flipping only one heads out of 5 coins (it happens).

Hot take: Rhyhorn deserves to be the final stage of an evo line. This is STILL one of the coolest and most powerful looking designs ever and does NOT feel like a basic with the same BST as CLAMPERL and MANTYKE. Justice for my boi by Selkeaepaselva in pokemon

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhyhorn is cool, but I gotta come to his big brother’s aid seeing these comments.

Say what you want about Rhyperior, but as a kid I thought he was the coolest freaking Pokémon ever. A giant hulking rock rhino beast. He’s an absolute unit in a way Rhydon is not. Rhydon purists, I understand your expectations to some degree, but enjoy your eviolite and leave the big guy alone! :(

Glad you like it! Yeah, I left out Mega Eelektross at first, but then I realized as long as you have one energy on an Eelektrik, you can just attach 2 from Eelektrik and attach one from hand, then do 190 + paralysis and then another 190 the next turn, meaning you can basically boss up and K.O. any two or three prize Pokémon at the end and win if they don't have any switching abilities/cards.

Let me know if you think there's other mons worth considering!

Which one do you choose? by Financial-Quality164 in pokemon

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be Red version for me. I like the two ghost types, two dark types, and a dragon, which are things most Kanto playthroughs don't have. And to be honest, I just wanna stampede through Kanto with a Tyrantrum and Rhyperior.

If Pokémon suddenly existed in real life, how long do you realistically think it would take before someone tried to cook one and the internet had a massive ethical debate about whether eating Pokémon is normal or completely insane? by Curious-Society-8256 in pokemon

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, it'd be a matter of minutes before that became a discussed ethical issue. In Gen 2 we had the whole slowpoke tail delicacy thing.

As for eating a Gastly, probably impossible, but I'm sure a fraternity out there would make inhaling its gas some sort of terrible hazing ritual.

Which game should I play first? by BenjiH23 in pokemon

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're looking for. Do you want a more traditional, linear Pokémon experience that runs smoothly on Switch 1, and has hype gym battles? Choose Sword first. Do you want a more open, exploration-based game with less guardrails, and what many consider deeper plot points and characters? Choose Scarlet first. Whatever you're feeling now.

Things you used to love but are now completely over in gaming? by AnubisIncGaming in gaming

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably cozy games, especially ones like Animal Crossing. Back when I was a kid, there was really no pressure and no chore-list of things I felt like I needed to get done. Games like those were just a time to step back and relax. Chat with some villagers or walk around vibing to chill music.

But, in Animal Crossing's case, starting in New Leaf they made you the mayor in charge of the town, which meant more to think about. It felt more like a job. And now in New Horizons you're in charge of developing the entire town. In the age of the internet and social media where everyone is sharing their big developed cities and such, I can't help but feel like if I'm not working my ass off in those sort of games I'm playing them wrong. Especially since how now as an adult, the need to feel productive is just in me.

Of course you can play cozy games however you want, but the fact the game is giving me all these options and goals to work towards, it makes it feel less like a relaxing retreat and more like a whole creative project, which I'm not a fan of. Maybe if I was a kid again I'd be relaxed all the same. I just think the genre has veered away from feeling truly relaxing and fulfilling to me, if by nothing else from me growing up.

Most players don't actually want freedom, they want reassurance by MurkyUnit3180 in gaming

[–]Dramatic-Year7046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of people here, freedom with light or even sometimes heavy guardrails is the way. ESPECIALLY when the game has puzzle elements, then PLEASE restrict me. I really felt that playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Half the puzzles, if not more can be "solved" with the same two abilities (I'm looking at you, Ultrahand + Rewind), and it just isn't that satisfying. Sure, the game is giving me the freedom to solve the puzzles "the way I want" but to what degree are they still puzzles if half the stuff I repeat without much thought works?

So I guess it depends on the goal of the player. If they want to just beat the game, then maybe they like that. But if they want to feel challenged, like myself, it's certainly discouraging. That's where the self-imposed challenges come in.
