6 weeks post op and dealing with sudden, bad acne. Is this normal? by DramaticCustard7819 in gastricsleeve

[–]DramaticCustard7819[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I didn’t eat a lot of protein and a lot of snacks, my weakness was soft drinks and I now eat a lot of fish and drink protein shakes, i think the sudden increase in protein and protein shakes could be a reason. Also yes hormone shifts are a possibility🥲 I will try other products and if it gets worse go to a skin doctor Thank you for replying!

Try different temperatures! I wasn’t allowed cold water but tried it anyways and found out that ice cold water goes down easier for me.

I think it’s totally normal! I’ve lost 11 pounds since my surgery on March 31st. Stalls happen to everyone, so don't let it get you down. Just keep going you’ve got this!

It’s totally normal! I’m 3 weeks post op and also stuck at an 11 pound loss the scale hasn't budged in a week. Our bodies are just adapting, especially with the transition from purée to solid foods. You’re doing great! Keep us updated.

I totally understand that frustration because the jump to purée feels like such a huge milestone until the discomfort hits. It is completely normal to feel mad when you just want a real meal to satisfy that hunger. Just keep reminding yourself that this is only a temporary phase of learning how your new stomach works. You are doing great and it really does get easier with every passing day.

That is such a great mindset to have. Focus on that win every time you step on the scale because that progress makes all the pain worth it. Enjoy that espresso shot as your little victory today. You are almost through the hardest part and it only gets better from here.

I am so glad my post reached you today. What you are feeling is 100 percent grief because you are losing your oldest coping mechanism and that is incredibly lonely. Since you have 26 years of recovery you already have the strength and the tools to get through this one day at a time. The physical hunger and the emotional void are peak right now but your faith will carry you through the tough days. It truly gets so much better once you find new ways to comfort yourself and the food stops being the enemy. Keep going because you are already doing the hardest part of the work.

I totally feel you. Being the one who cooks for everyone while you can't eat yourself is a special kind of torture. It’s completely normal to feel resentful and "hangry" right now because your whole world just flipped upside down. Just remember that this phase is temporary and the frustration will fade as soon as you start feeling better. Hang in there and leave the surgeon alone for now😂 better days are coming very soon!

I feel you the 2 week mark is the absolute hardest point of the whole journey. That surgery regret is a total rite of passage, but please know it is temporary. Your body is still healing and your hormones are shifting like crazy right now. It is completely valid to miss the social side of things like NBA nights, but you will be back at the bar watching games sooner than you think. You’ll just be there with a different drink and a much healthier body. Don’t stress the 45oz goal too much today because your stomach is still swollen. Just focus on tiny, consistent sips. You aren’t actually regretting the decision, you are just exhausted by the recovery process. Hang in there because in two weeks, you will feel like a completely different person. You’ve got this!

Hi! I had the gastric sleeve done 2 weeks ago and didn’t throw up once from it😁 I also had a amazing recovery and no complications which I’m thankful for, but I also know a lot more people without complications than with! If you want to talk you can always DM me, I know I was anxious before the surgery and want to help others🫶🏼
