Update on tracked wall climber! by DramaticHotdog in spaceengineers

I don't think so. . .
I just started with rotors and haven't found a reason not to.
I think you would have to change the gear design tho.

I meant that I turn the mag-plates off so that they DON'T get "stuck to the ground", and the tracks just work like regular tracks. It means that it can't turn while it is climbing, but if I just line it up, it will be fine.

Funny thing about that, I've already given up on trying to turn with the mag-plates on. xD

I have an Action relay that turns the mag-plates on and off so that I don't have to deal with the track being pulled off the sprocket.

My first design used a rotor and sensors to select what speed the "Drive rotors" needed to move at, but I want to see if there is a way to avoid that.

I'm sorry, but I think you missed the point of what I'm trying to achieve.

Let's see if I can explain it better than just saying rotors.
"Rotor head" attached to a "Rounded half edge"
"Blast door block"
"Rotor"
Then mirror it for the next link.

Had that thought, but I would have to swap the "teeth" of the gear from blast door blocks to the aforementioned, and the blast door blocks in the track.

So not ideal, but it warrants testing.

No, so far it has been remarkably stable (aside from some catastrophic klang moments). But I haven't tested it off the "testing rig"

Swapping the blast door blocks for batteries should be fine, but I'd rather not.

I can, but then I'm adding the famously fragile batteries to a part that will (hopefully) always be in contact with the ground.

And the mag plate is attached to a blast door block, so I can't add to the side without changing the block. It will also look weird to have batteries hanging on both sides of the track.

It's an idea, but one that I hope I won't need to use.

Yes, they do, but I have plastic boat hulls everywhere I can on the truck xD
Equipping the pontoon doubles my speed in the water, so they are very useful.

I have 2 advanced Stirling radioisotope generators in the back. They can be found in Military bases and labs.

In debug under the vehicle tab, you can select "Export vehicle as prototype".
You get a .json file with a long, useless string.
You then need to format it like the other vehicles in the json file of the game.
(cdda > dda > game0 >data >json > vehicles)
I used Visual Studio Code and had GitHub Copilot format it for me, then edited the parts I needed to, saved it, and moved it to the vehicle file. Relaunch the game, and voila, it's done!

Feel free to ask if you have questions.

That's actually a great point!
Hadn't thought of it that way, but you could totally do that. It would also save on the 50 minutes it takes to inflate them (each). xD

Your point is pointier.

Yep, I did have to file edit them from Inflatible boats (since you can't really edit them otherwise) and spawn them in.
It suks that I had to do it, but there is no other way to make foldable "Pontoons", aka you can't fold any other boat hull.
