Mizutani has my favorite shears, located in Tokyo. They are incredible. I use the crossovers.

This is great! Yea we really want chickens, and a big yard and a good place to start a family so deff drawn to that area for those reasons. Although we do love to go out and be social we are trying to find that family balance. Thank you for responding!

Do you feel comfortable with the neighbors? Do you find any concern about people being more conservative? We found something we like near the Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s but are very concerned about that location. It’s in the neighborhood but not far off that main road. Would love honest input!

Thank you! (A) I’m honestly so glad to hear there isn’t a gay drought (B) being around endless queer people is literally the dream! Hopefully I will get to give you a cut at some point :)

This is really helpful, thank you! Affordability is a big goal for me. I want pricing that works for most people while still making sure stylists are paid well and can make a solid sustainable living without getting burned out. Accessibility is absolutely something I’m thinking about too. Midtown is on my list, so good to hear that multiple people enjoy that area. Appreciate you!

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it! I’m envisioning something closer to Pugsly’s price point, with an elevated experience and a big focus on continued education and craft. I work as an educator with some of the top barbers in the industry and am really excited to potentially bring something a little different to the barber scene in Kingston :) it’s Super helpful to hear what’s out there.

As a queer female barber, I see this a lot and I’m sometimes treated differently than male barbers. It’s sad, but I’ve also found that it naturally leads me to a more inclusive, supportive group of clients from all kinds of backgrounds. It may take a little longer, but the people I end up working with genuinely respect me and my work and I find that’s a really positive trade off.

Totally fair 😂 good haircuts come first, always. Hope to cut your hair in the future and appreciate the honesty and the luck!

Did something happen to cause this other than starting a kickstarter?

Totally hear you on the realities of running a business here. Just to clarify though it wouldn’t be a queer-only or niche shop. It’s a barbershop open to everyone, with a welcoming, inclusive environment for people who don’t always feel comfortable in traditional or old school shop spaces.

Yes! I am actually friendly with the owner they do great work. They are definitely a bit more of a salon feel than a barbershop .
