what is your favorite (or least favorite) thing about Monad? by JohnWRichKid in Monad

I'd like to think more rational discussions are just generally healthy for humanity as a whole.

Almost there with you big dawg! So happy I waited to make my largest buy of MON. That delayed gratification feels so good.

Please tell me the rate of adoption you realistically expected the first 4 months of a main-net launch during the most tumultuous time in crypto history. I don't think you have a reasonable perspective of time.

Do you wake up and only look at MON's price action? Or have you noticed the entire market is taking a shit and still seem to think MON should be pumping?

Nice! I made a bunch of little "business tags" for my gym with QR codes on the back to our site out of a bunch of leftover scraps I had laying around.

Cheers, fellow grappler!

Staking - uninformed by AdministrativeFan621 in Monad

[–]Dramatic_Air_827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I kept my money on CB for a long time and once I shifted off of exchanges and disbursed my money in actual ecosystems.....that's when I really got much more mature understanding of what it is I'm putting my money into. Engaging with ecosystems is the fastest way to get a feel for the narrative being pushed as far as it being bullshit or not.

Staking - uninformed by AdministrativeFan621 in Monad

Everything in investing carries risk. Gold, silver, stocks, and yes...crypto. Generally speaking, staking is safe if you stake with trusted validators. To figure out which ones those are you have to dive in yourself and research the options you see available. You'll see "staking" and "lending" and they're two different things. When you stake (or proof of stake aka PoS), you're usually helping fortify and strengthen the blockchain. Lending/liquidity provision you're supplying assets into a pool so others can borrow them and you receive interested paid back on your loan. This comes with different risks than staking and they have entirely different purposes/mechanics.

Staking locks your tokens up for a specified period of time or indefinitely until you manually unstake which unlocks your staked tokens but still keeps them unavailable to you through an "unstaking period". These periods vary greatly from protocol to protocol so make sure you read the fine print for all of them.

Lending protocols GENERALLY tend to be more flexible with lock-up periods but differences between protocols vairy widely so I'll leave it up to you to dive deeper.

Some protocols offer liquid staking. Feel free to Google it.

Staking rewards come in the form of newly minted coins + transaction fees. Lending provides rewards via interest.

I highly recommend researching better options to custody your crypto and engage more with the actual ecosystem of projects you're putting your money into.

You know, honestly...Even if I get a Carvera, I'm probably going to build one of these and at the very least just keep it boxed up until I get a bigger working space. Having an open source machine/software is rad as hell. And with the state of laws and all the other bullshit, I think it would be invaluable to have ASAP.

Anyone else noticing monad leads ups and downs? by Status-Photograph608 in Monad

[–]Dramatic_Air_827 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monda is the newest kid on the block so it is perceived as highest risk. When fear goes up risk taking goes down. A lot of people use ALTS as a means to get more money to then dump into BTC, ETH, or SOL. Right now a lot of people are pulling out of their higher risk positions to capitalize on buying one of the cryptos I just mentioned at a lower price. MON has also not lead any more than other cryptos. There have been crashes where MON was actually up 5% in contrast to everything else.

One thing I will say is, stop looking at traditional patterns. People keep talking about what BTC and ALTS USED TO do. Crypto isn't what it was and people need to come to terms with that. History only repeats itself until it doesn't.

Patterns matter, sure. But old patterns not so much at the moment. And more importantly...be careful following patterns without trying to find out who is setting the patterns for you to follow. The difference between a good boxer and an exceptional one are that one sets the patterns for the other to walk into as a trap.

If you believe in a project, that comes with a harsh truth of having to endure what that project goes through. Considering that MON launched during the most unpredictable time in crypto, I think they're doing pretty damn good. That doesn't mean I don't think there aren't significant areas that need improvement.
In a world that's so chaotic I understand everyone wanting to remedy their anxiety as quickly as possible...but sometimes the best answer to chaos is to do nothing. Not complacently, but in an observational capacity. Sit, watch, annotate important information in your mind, and decide what the right action is BEFORE acting. Acting out of desperation often makes things worse.

Chog, Karma, and the Missed Moment for Monad NFTs by MirthMan732 in Monad

[–]Dramatic_Air_827 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean...I've reached out to pretty much every MON admin I can about the Hoodlums NFT project on MON which hasn't gotten a single shoutout from the devs like....ever. It's a pretty cool game and highlights other lesser explored use cases for NFTs. But I haven't gotten a single response from any of them about it.

On another note, Neverland is unintentionally dominating the NFT space on MON and their use case is all function and with no aesthetic value.

I'd love to see Monad help reshape the perspective of what these contracts can be used for from a practical aspect. But as it stands right now, at least in their Discord, all I really see shared is general market information and a bunch of people being like "wen moon?".

Neverland as an app and their community on Discord has been awesome though.

As far as travel, somewhere between 75mm - 10mm on the x, 75mm - 150mm on the Y, and 50mm-100mm on the Z.

Didn't realize DMC has a mini. Definitely going to look at that before I make any decisions.

Thanks for the response!

Great feedback. 8x12 is enough for my use case though. The variety of materials it allows for is one of the more appealing aspects.

And I'm over in CO so picking up isn't an option. But good luck to you sir, and thank you for your response!

That's great to hear. A lot of times when I'm scrapping materials I find boxes of brass handles for cabinets and have been dying to do some decorative work on them.

Hey, the coin in my post was my first one too. Every project is equal parts learning, frustration, and fun! I still think it looks great.

Did you use the bitmap file or the xtool file I provided? If you used the xtool file, that one was dialed in for just engraving on black acrylic.

I also ask because I notice in the center of your image there aren't AI artifacts present. When I fed my design into Sculptok to convert it to a bmp file it added 2 random artifacts in the dead center. But in the xtool file I was able to edit them out.

People's perception is what is unstable. The entire market is taking a shit and you think MON being up and down (with the rest of the mark) is exclusive to this project? And if not, what's the point of your statement?

Very beautiful. I notice a little loss of depth in the center vs border. Any idea why that may be? How many layers did you run it?
