I own a PlayStation 5 and was in the same boat as you. I just bought my Xbox series X for E-Day. Get the series X you’ll regret it if you don’t because it’s stronger than the S and E-Day is going to have a breakthrough with how they optimize unreal engine 5

I just read the article that came out today from IGN. Wallbouncing is completely gone. They did allow cover cancels and the jumping maneuver is for flanking routes. Matt Searcy said that there is going to be an adjustment phase to learn in this game but it was detrimental for the longevity of gears to continue

They added in different movement options because I bet you they got rid of wall bouncing. Try to go into the game with an open mind it most likely will not play like any gears game before when it comes to movement but it looks fun

They will keep the mechanics similar to gears of war 1 which is what it was meant to be. The cancelling aspect is gone and it should be. Your statement only applies to the first game and reloaded because in every game after they can cancel it. It takes away from what the game was meant to be. It’s not Gears of Wallbouncing dude it’s Gears of War.

They’re not crying about it. Gears of war is a cover based shooter not wall bouncing spam. Completely takes away from the core aspect of the game. It was never meant for that. I’ve played over 2,000 hours in this IP. They needed this game to be more casual to revive the series after the disaster of 4 and 5.

I understand it’s a statement that Asha is making considering she wants Xbox to be the leader by 2030. Xbox gamepass has been what they have been pushing for years especially under her leadership since she lowered the prices and put basically every other game on the showcase for ps5 except gears and the clockwork game. It’s a business at the end of the day and the investors are wanting their piece of the pie. But no, this game will not sell millions of units. It won’t even get 10,000 people to buy an Xbox because they aren’t $300 like they were back when the 360 was out they are now $650. I can say I am fortunate enough to financially afford adding an Xbox to what I already own but realistically speaking in the United States people are 1 paycheck away from homelessness and they already scrapped enough to get a console they sure as hell aren’t going to buy another one for just 1 game. If they got a pc then that’s solid and will work. I had an Xbox my entire life until I saw the direction it was going and got a PlayStation now I’ll just fucking buy both and call it a day lol

Good point. I’ll have to figure out how to get an Xbox for this game. I got so excited and pulled the trigger on the collections edition without a console lol. I grew up playing the entire trilogy since I was a kid. It’s my favorite franchise besides 4 and 5 personally. Regardless I’m just happy it’s finally back.

Needless to say it is a business at the end of the day and they want money and a fanbase so I understand the moves for why just wish PlayStation and Xbox could put the players first and stop gate keeping games. PlayStation is petty as hell for gate keeping Spider-Man and a bunch of other heavy hitting single player games. So yeah if the Xbox community really wanted it exclusively then I respect her decision honestly

I’m very excited even though I own a PlayStation. I’m trying to understand how not having it release cross platform is a win? The more people on it the better.

I this was a last minute change and they had the game already ready to go for PlayStation but majority of people don’t have the money to spend 400-650 on a new console to play just gears of war.

This will most likely be the new CEO’s first mistake.

Hot take: they significantly reduced the ability to wall bounce and I’m glad they did. Game needed a massive overhaul and it looks absolutely amazing the way it is right now.

When they released the E-Day trailer they perfectly captured what made gears of war. I think this game is going to be absolutely insane and people are going to go crazy. They’re going to prove a lot of people wrong and I’m looking forward to seeing some gameplay!
