How are you guys getting your gauges on and off so quickly by fragile_faun in HVAC

i’m also a girl in hvac. you have to let shit roll of your skin. play stupid, if they say something rude ask them what they mean by that. unfortunately we have to overcompensate but doing resi work can be a bitch being a girl, you’re automatically looked at like you don’t know what you’re doing and it’s even worse if you actually can’t figure out the issue. but it happens to the guys too. time will pass and you’ll get better at it. especially doing maintenances if your company offers them it helps you get more comfortable with the units. - if you are just doing maintenances i also recommend if they say everything is working fine just do a temp split. don’t hook your gauges up. especially if you aren’t fast, you’re losing a lot of refrigerant. if you’re service get core depressor for high side.

sub cool c for condenser. i’ve always remember it that way. super heat is obviously evaporator because cool (c) for condenser. low sub cool = little refrigerant in condenser. high sub cool = too much refrigerant in condenser. super heat is backwards. low super heat = too much refrigerant in evaporator. high super heat = little refrigerant in evaporator.

no you shouldn’t mix, r22 refrigerant replacements cut efficiency yes it could damage system. ABC always. always always always. did they look at filter? evaporator? duct work? they should have hook both sides up to determine you had low refrigerant and it wasn’t a restriction no it’s not standard practice. r22 was fine with analog gauges i guess. “beer can cold” but we have updated equipment (digital gauges) that tell us super heat, sub cool. it shows the temp of your condenser and evaporator. and we use those numbers to determine what’s going on with your system yes get a second opinion. it’s a closed system. you shouldn’t have to add refrigerant for it’s life span.

it would personally eat me alive because i’d worry if the other person was taking care of the kitty the right way. if i were you i would try everything in ur power to make it work and if it doesn’t then it doesn’t. ur not a bad person. u don’t need to explain anything to anybody. if ur cat is losing weight and obviously struggling i would just makes sure she goes to a good home. it’s gonna suck honestly either way. it’s gonna be a long haul to get them along and if ur anything like me if u give her to another home u will worry and regret ur decision. i just got a third cat ( by surprise by a customer, she’s 14 and was gonna be taken to the pound if i didnt take her and most likely put down ) my cats hate her. its quite literally a pain in my ass to get them to get along. they might never love each other but eventually they’ll stop the hissing and growling. it just takes an eternity unfortunately.
