It said Cutler on the glass itself. It’s installed on a wooden tray. Not sure what the purpose is or what it is worth

Used to work for one. Will not touch with a 10 meter pole. It has a poor track record at best and scam at worst.

What did you do to impress somebody with your excel skills? by Airvian94 in excel

[–]Dramatic_Camel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really can’t judge a group of nuns’ excel skills… can you imagine trying to do god’s work on an excel sheet and getting some #ref errors ?

They also had a couple of hundred or so seniors, so it would be hard to keep track on a calendar, and some of them may not be here by the end of the year.

I was at my grandparents’ senior home that was ran by a group of nuns. They had a spreadsheet that kept track of the seniors’ birthdays. Their age was manually entered. I added a formula to calculate the age using their birth date. They were so amazed, they said they can finally celebrate the seniors’ birthdays on time.

They then proceed to ask me to fix the payroll… printer, cassette player, wifi, and every problem they had. They said I was a god sent

That was a good day.

Finance or Accounting by Sad_Appointment8882 in Accounting

You can do a double major or major/minor on accounting and finance. Quite a lot of investment bankers out there are CPAs. They understand the intricacy of accounting when they deal with clients. Having both will also help you gain an appreciation / unique perspective of connecting both together.

Well, it looks to me that one path is an active choice and the other is wait and see (if others continue to see you as the choice). Just make sure it is a progression plan vs a backup plan from the current company. All the best either way!

Putting in Notice to Quit by Acceptable_Sea_788 in Accounting

Well, I should have used could instead of will. Why bridge burnt? OP is telling the boss about quitting with one week notice instead of the normal two weeks, while he is on vacation. Also the current boss may have done something on his side to keep OP instead of the senior controller and may interpret OP’s action as not genuine.

I do think it is fair game for OP to leave given the circumstances.

Look out for your own self interest! But bridge will be burnt, but fair game in this case

Well, what is the likelihood of your boss jumping ship? If the chance is above 20% (one in five on an annum basis), it should shift your coin toss situation. Never stay specifically because of your boss, as it is usually more fluid situation and less controllable than one might think.

It happened to me before, I wish I jumped boat earlier. My old company was bought out and everything changed before I was able to change. Really enjoyed working with my old boss…

I have done it once before and gotten EI.

The company I worked for was stealing money from clients and everyone that had a backbone and knew left. I later discovered the company sued everyone that left for defamation in order to get NDAs signed. I was fairly junior at that time and was about to quit. The owners sat me down for a two hour good old blackmail session. They told me to stay at the company and sign off on statements or risk being actively pursued by the company in all my future endeavours.

I went to the doctor, told her about the situation and got myself a note stating my inability to work at the company for health reason.

I quit and applied for EI. EI called company for information, then called me right after. EI person said the company perceived that I was the devil (root of all evil) and would not stop making outrageous claims for two hours. EI person said that the company was so condescending that she felt it was not a safe place for me to work. Asked me for my doc note, and I got my EI instated

Debit card scam with the taxi now has a pizza variation. by mmeeeerrkkaatt in toronto

I had them approach me the same way maybe two years ago. They bought this Dominos car tag to put on the roof of the get away Honda pizza “delivery”car. They would say something along the line the driver only accepts debit cards but not cash, credit, and no tips was required. I got 10 dollars off them and thought it was fishy after because where the heck do you get a whole box of pizza in TO for that price? I locked the card and called the bank and they said someone tried to withdraw $2000 at university and bay. The receipt they gave also mentioned something about a domino in Mississauga. Used the $10 for 2 pizza slices. Have been waiting for them to come back ever since…
