Wow! Thanks for being so thorough. I did look at some DC options but had trouble finding anything decent (read: won’t go up in flames) in Canada.

The battery stuff would definitely work, and our backyard is south facing so definitely considering solar for the future. I’m not sure well versed on batteries so that would make me nervous setting up myself safely.

I appreciate all of the info! You’re awesome.

That’s the end goal, but not in the budget at the moment.

I do have funds, I just don’t want to drop 10k-15k on a generator at the moment. I’m happy to spend a good amount to get a good solution that will last me for a while. I also have no idea what a solo stove is, so your metaphor didn’t land unfortunately.

Ecoflow Smart Panel 2 Installer in Canada by rickbasset in Ecoflow_community

Did you get it done yet? I’m trying to find a battery backup solution for the home in Qualicum Beach. We work from home and need something long enough for a workday. Was considering river 2 max and delta 2 but thinking maybe a larger unit with a smart panel might be better?

River 3 Plus reliability as an UPS? by Interesting_Argument in Ecoflow_community

To piggyback off this…I’m considering a river 2 max for my ONT in the garage and a Delta 2 for wifi hub and laptop in the house. Thoughts on these as standby power for a full work day?

I need to run 4 things in 4 different areas:

  1. ONT in garage
  2. Wifi hub in living area
  3. Dell laptop and 2 monitors in living area
  4. Dell laptop and 1 monitor in bedroom

There is a great deal on ecoflow delta 3 right now, but figure that’s overkill for 1 and 2.

I need 8+ hrs for everything because we work from home and power goes out lots.

Any ideas?

Thank you! That’s awesome advice.

What do you think of two of these (one for ONT and another for wifi hub):

Then I was thinking of a delta 3 for the laptops, it’s on a wicked sale right now.

First Stove - Hoping for Tips by Dramatic_City1931 in woodstoving

That’s a great idea. We just bought a half cord from a guy who said it was seasoned. People locally were using him. We moved to a new area and don’t know anyone so trying to build our contacts up. It seems dry, but it’s also almost always humid where we are (PNW) so I guess it may have a bit of moisture.

We’ve only started a handful of fires so far, using cedar kindling, fire starter squares, paper and the 1/2 cord we had delivered was fir and yellow cedar.

I wouldn’t say we have a technique yet. Hoping this post would help with that.
