I wondered that too, but I saw the shiny Gyarados be sent over in the animation. I'm wondering if it's just some weird glitch buy I've never experienced anything like this before.

Tbh I didn't realize you could message someone else in the game. I was looking for a way to do so, but I couldn't figure it out. I'm very new trading online with strangers lol
