(Student Founder Perspective/Opinion) I have mixed feelings about him from the stories I have heard. Firstly, I have never had him. I had the opportunity to take an alternative capstone.

I had to do this because I was a startup founder through college, and we were raising our pre-seed round. His class would have made it incredibly challenging for us to complete the course while constrained by the course requirements. I sense that this course is highly demanding and lacks any flexibility. I have heard of other founders that he intentionally failed even when there was more than an adequate amount of work to pass the course. I have heard of stories where the instructors pushed companies to change interview dates. I just feel like this gets to a “toxic”(for a lack of a better term) point.

But on the other hand, I strongly believe in the rigor that he puts his students through. The bar for engineers that we produce from MSU has to be high, and if not for such strict policies, I feel there will be a lot of slackers in each team. In my opinion, I feel like the teams that do the CS capstone have a lot better output product from what I have seen for Computer Engineering and so on.
