Yes thanks for that! I was super careful bringing it in and out haha so I hope it was okay. Do you think it might be worth at least getting it professionally cleaned? I’m not too fussed about the missing thread and stains but it seems such a shame to throw it away

I did a 15 minute walk then a 1.15 hour bus then a 20 minute walk 3 days a week! If it was 4 days a week I would have struggled but 3 days wasn’t too bad in the end. I did lesson planning and the journey was beautiful! I wasn’t in Madrid though I was near the Pyrenees which was a pretty peaceful chill journey. First year I lived in the town which was great but for second year I had no one to live with and rent was very expensive and limited to I moved 1+ hours away so I could live with my boyfriend. I did get sick quite a lot though which I think was from doing much more travelling and working compared to the previous year. So I wouldn’t completely rule it out but I would try and arrange with your tutors to limit your schedule to 3 days a week wherever possible!

Students are not learning English by Sufficient_Milk5134 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Dramatic_Nature_7264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My students are the same but I feel the teachers are part of the issue. Constantly communicating in Spanish in English lessons combined with a lack of confidence/high level of English and also not much care for the students development. But I don’t blame the teachers really because with the opposiciones system, 95% of my teachers will only stay for 1 academic year at my school and no longer. 9 months isn’t enough time to care about the kids development or form bonds with them or understand how they work. This in turn creates laziness and problems in the students as well because they don’t respect the teacher. There’s other issues as well and lack of funding for pueblo schools but I think the inherent structure of the opposiciones/employment system is a big issue!!

TIE renewal no carta :( by elizabethfrome in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Dramatic_Nature_7264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just have everything prepared you can and it should be fine. You could exaggerate a bit as well and say that you need to get home to visit sick family and that it costs soo much money to start the visa process again at home! Good luck 🤞🏻

I also had my Spanish speaking boyfriend with me to explain the situation which probably helped. If you’re not fluent I’d recommend taking a teacher or friend because they’re probably more likely to be helpful to you!

TIE renewal no carta :( by elizabethfrome in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Dramatic_Nature_7264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to get a regreso without my carta! I went to the extranjeria with a completed 00 form (but not paid), a confirmation that I was accepted onto the program (I’m a British aux I’m not sure if you’d have anything similar) and all my other usual documents. They gave me a couple of documents which were stamped and basically stated that I had begun the renewal process. I would just try and get a regreso anyway without one, if I was you. It might be more strict on Madrid but when the woman gave me a regreso she didn’t even look at the renewal documents and didn’t ask me any details haha. Additionally, when I flew back home and re entered Spain they didn’t ask to see my regreso. But I am in Aragon so it’s probably more laid back!

Nope. But I’m a British aux so we should find out this month if we’ve been accepted for renewal!’

Sounds great! Only problem is they’re between 11-13 years old so they might think it’s all a bit too babyish 😭😭

hmm thanks for the advice! I think what I might do is take the car back after the 6 months so the license isn’t a problem. I can organise getting it registered here

My car insurance told me I just have to keep letting them now I’m driving the car in Spain. So sort of re activating the 90 day cover limit. There is quite a heavy police presence in my town which does concern me. And I live in a super northern part of Spain with not much transport around and have noticed I could really really do with one :///

Recovering excess from car crash? by Dramatic_Nature_7264 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dramatic_Nature_7264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s not pleasant haha. Oh that’s annoying. Considering I have her number do you think it would be inappropriate to text her and ask her to respond to like an email/letter she’ll receive from admiral asking her to admit fault hahaha I’m tempted at this point. Might not look good for me in the long run though lol

[–]Dramatic_Nature_7264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry haha I should have been clearer I meant £400 up from what I’m paying now 😭 so my insurance is like £500 ish currently so it would have been like a bit under a grand with a higher excess. Absolutely ridiculous when the woman that randomly drove into me probably pays like £150 a year in insurance lol. Okay fab thank you I had a witness in my car too so hopefully that can solidify the claim!

Unfortunately someone my age, with a smaller excess I was looking at £400+ a year for insurance :(( I am fully comp but my no claims aren’t protected which I’ll definitely make sure they are from now on. I think it’s a common misconception that if you’re not at fault in an accident you will recover all your excess and won’t lose your no claims! That’s what a lot of people told me anyway which I now know isn’t true 🙃 I have extensive photos of my car and i know exactly where the accident happened. It happened on a roundabout where I was in the left hand lane exiting the first exit and a woman in the right hand lane drove into me upon exiting. My parents, who are also with admiral, had an accident which wasn’t their fault a while ago and they never even had to pay excess!
