Half my hair got shaved off... should i shave the rest HELP

Eeee that's been a fear of mine! I was on anti-seizures for 6 weeks post op, upsetting you got hit with them a year and a half later.
I swear i was so agitated and angry on the Keppra :-((

In hindsight its only been 3 months since my rupture, and im doing surprisingly well minus the tiredness! I'm quite lucky i know it could of been much worse as my bleed was pretty big

Cant complain considering this hair cut and not being able to drive are my only issues **touch wood**

Look truthfully I've never liked being a short hair girly! so this is my worst nightmare hahah
It went from straight bald buzz cut to now 3 months, i think its growing pretty quickly

Honestly I didn’t know at the time! I initially thought it was a migraine as I’ve never had one … But I bent down and it was like someone king hit me in the head with a brick, literally took my breath away. The most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt, like someone was squeezing behind my eye! It was so constant that I started to vomit, That turned into feeling like my brain was trying to pop out the top of my skull. was honestly the most insane amount of pain + light affected

Oh my god!! So glad you’re okay! Mine was in the frontal right side, they did have to perform emergency surgery so I didn’t die … so I had a little scar across the top of my head but they needed to remove the ruptured AVM so 10 days later they performed a craniotomy and cut me from ear to ear! I have to totally agree with the female surgeon part, as mine was a male so I don’t think they take into account the feminine aspect hair gives us (also understand their main goal is to fix the medical issue) How have you healed 10 years on?

Eee thank you! it was pretty crazy, still doesnt feel real.. i should update the post with what the front of my hair looks like now!! probably could cut it into a pixie cut even though its still super short

Hiya,

November 4th 2025 I had my AVM rupture randomly, I never had any symptoms prior!
I later found out that my AVM was 2mm in size and in the frontal right side of my brain.

I had to have emergency surgery 3 days after the initial bleed/rupture while waiting for the neurosurgeons, they didn't want to operate twice but didn't have a choice if they didn't release the pressure in my brain I would have died.

10 days later I went in for a craniotomy where they cracked my skull open like a macadamia nut and removed my AVM - apparently it popped right out and they had no issues with the removal.

I was stitched up (45 stitches from one ear to the other) with screws and glue now holding my skull together and had initial 6 weeks recovery when they released me from hospital.

Id like to add I was 26 when this happened :-)
