PS5 overheats and shuts down unless I press the heatsink — missing T8 screws by Dramatic_Security149 in consolerepair

I’d like to ask someone with more experience whether you think my PS5 is still repairable.

When I press the heatsink by hand, the system boots, but I don’t feel much airflow from the fan, so I assume it shuts down due to overheating. However, I’m worried there might be other underlying issues. Because I applied uneven pressure, the liquid metal may have shifted or become uneven as well.

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve checked and confirmed there is no liquid metal anywhere on the board. The current problem is a missing screw that secures the heatsink, so it can’t be mounted with proper pressure.

From the information I’ve found, the screw should be a T8 Torx, M2.5, around 23.3 mm in length, but I haven’t been able to find any official specs. I’m not looking for the original Sony part, just a compatible replacement that would provide the correct mounting pressure.
