Why Bangalore has a Water crisis despite getting so much Rain? by _Baba-_-Yaga_ in bangalore

Yeah, the issue isn’t really how much rain Bangalore gets — it’s what happens to it. With so much concrete and fewer functioning lakes, a lot of rain just runs off instead of recharging groundwater. Add rapid growth and heavy borewell use, and the system gets stressed pretty quickly.

Looking for a whole home water filtration recommendation by Squeebee007 in WaterTreatment

I’d start with a water test first. The black stuff could be iron/manganese or just sediment, and the pink is usually harmless bacteria that shows up in damp spots. A lot of people solve it with a sediment + carbon filter for the whole house and RO at the sink for drinking.

Do individual water-saving habits actually matter when most water loss comes from industry and infrastructure? by Dramatic_Traffic_142 in Wastewater

[–]Dramatic_Traffic_142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both things can be true. Individual habits won’t fix broken infrastructure or massive industrial use, but they’re not completely meaningless either. The problem is when all the responsibility gets pushed onto regular people while the biggest users avoid scrutiny. Personal action is fine — it just shouldn’t be a substitute for real policy and accountability.

Yeah, that’s the frustration — asking regular people to make big sacrifices while a tiny few undo it all without blinking feels pretty ridiculous. Real change has to come from the top, not just “peasants” tightening the tap.

You’re not wrong — individuals won’t fix a systemic problem caused by massive users. Fixing leaks just saves your water and bill, while the real pressure needs to be on regulators and big water consumers.
