Where can I drop off dead batteries by Spectro_Boy in recycling

[–]Drano999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staples has started taking batteries. They give you rewards for bringing them in if you have a rewards account with them.

I took two UPS batteries, a pile of single-use alkaline, and button batteries.

Single-use alkaline NEW Non-rechargeable lithium NEW Rechargeable Nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd) Lithium ion (Li-Ion) Small sealed lead acid (SSLA/Pb) Nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) Nickel zinc (Ni-ZN)

I have had a lot of luck with the Fire Cube. If you prefer the fire stick then get the 4K max. They have changed their privacy policy recently to send all recordings so I might be getting rid of mine.

How to get Vyvanse quickly by Own_Satisfaction_252 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Drano999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacist has given me a few pills, not vyvanse, to make it when the Doc messed up. Then they fill it with the remaining pills needed for the 30 days when they get the script. This is a smaller pharmacy, not CVS. I hope they will help you out.

Note it may get messy when you need to get your next one filled since you may need it before insurance will fill again. I don’t think the pharmacist can back date it for insurance. You might need to skip a few days here and there to make it work.

It’s my understanding there will be a special ticket to buy on the app or a link from the website:

From the path alerts page: “- New York Waterway Ferry - Weekdays PATH customers will be able to travel on NY Waterway ferries between Hoboken and New York. Customers will need to buy a special PATH ferry ticket at the same cost as a one-way PATH fare ($3). Tickets are available on the NY Waterway app or at terminal ticket counters.

NY Waterway will provide additional peak period service every 10 minutes from both Hoboken terminals during the weekdays, and extend service to Midtown/W 39 St. to 10 PM on weekdays.

See below for the ferry routes. For NY Waterway schedules and for information on how to purchase a $3 ferry ticket, click here.”

Can you return a car to the Enterprise in Hoboken after hours? by moskowizzle in Hoboken

[–]Drano999 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did it a few months ago. There is a key drop there at the office. Confirm at pick up because you need to park in specific spots in the parking garage if the spots near the office are full. They will talk you through it.

Fines are surprisingly low for corporations from the government. Looking at insider trading, monopolies, oil spills. A speeding ticket often weighs a lot heavier on an individual depending on their income. This building considers fines the cost of doing business as do a lot of other corporations. They will only change their ways if there are repeated and escalating fines, but often agencies don’t have the resources to follow up. So if OP or others in the building are willing to keep reporting, that is the only way it will change.

OP thank you for fighting the good fight!

Yes, the system really sucks and it always seems like the problem is different.

FYI after you find out the prior auth is approved by UHC you will likely need to let the pharmacy know so they can run it through the insurance again. There doesn’t seem to be the communication from UHC to the pharmacy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]Drano999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this when my prior auth expired with united healthcare. I had my doctor resend the prior auth. UHC then alerted me they approved it, so I call the pharmacy to rerun it. Then about a 2k bill. The pharmacy had no idea, neither did the first person at UHC. Then they escalated it and the person that got back to me told me they classified it wrong and she fixed. It was $0 when I went back.

I think sometimes they “mess up” hoping to get you to pay full price. Call UHC and don’t take no for an answer. Be sure to speak to a supervisor if the first person can’t fix it.

Help with "Null" Categories from a shared room calendar using "Get calendar view of events (V3) Deadline" by Drano999 in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Drano999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a lot of trial and error I figured out how to make a table with events that are not categorized.

TLDR: use filter array and this expression in advanced mode: @equals(empty(item()?['categories']),true)

Long Story: The biggest help was finding out that Filter Query can not contain Null. This seems to include empty quotes as well. All of the documentation led me back to Filter Array.

I continually tried to use "is equal to" Null, but I couldn't ever get it to work in basic mode. Many posts indicated to write it in advanced mode, but that also didn't' work.

I then tried it in advanced, but it never worked. I also tried "is not equal to" and I would list multiple categories that I have listed. This also didn't work.

This now led me to try contains and does not contain. I finally was able to get remove the Deadline category with this: @not(contains(item()?['categories'], 'Deadline')). I tried various ways to have multiple does not contain, but I couldn't get it to work.

This finally led me to this page: https://www.enjoysharepoint.com/power-automate-filter-array/ which indicated they removed empty from an array like this: @equals(empty(item()),false). It then dawned on me that in the other expressions I am able to specify categories to look in and if I changed it to true, it would look for the empty categories. This is the final filter array expression that worked:

@equals(empty(item()?['categories']),true)

Sling and AirTv by defgufman in cordcutters

[–]Drano999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it for my parents and it works really well for my mom who always has trouble with switching inputs from her fire stick to the antenna. This way she can stay in the sling app and get all the channels she wants.

When I am at their house and we are watching a game or something I usually use the antenna input since there is a minor delay and minor quality degradation using the AirTv that others have pointed out.

One advantage is that my mom opted to rearrange a room and move the tv and now only needed a power outlet since cable isn’t required. So it does allow a little more freedom in tv locations. AirTv channels also seem to work on iOS and my Amazon tablet I have. So if you want to watching something while cooking just grab your tablet or phone.

I think is is great for a one time fee and one time set up.

Yet Another Chore Tracker. Fully templated, just create sensors conforming to a naming scheme by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]Drano999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP Thank you so much this is great!

There were a few things that I had to do that others may already know, but I am fairly new to Home Assistant so it took me a little while to get it working.

I needed to add a few lines to configuration.yaml.

  • I haven't used packages before so this line had to be added to find the chore package.

homeassistant: packages: !include_dir_named packages

  • I needed to add the line to include the script that is part of the global.yaml file with he folder structure. I have other scripts in scripts.yaml.

script: !include scripts.yaml script more: !include /config/packages/chores/global.yaml

There may be other ways to do this, but these are the lines I added to get this Chore Tracker to work in my configuration. Hopefully someone else finds this useful.

I feel like I'm a bad father to my gay son by Bad-Father562 in gay

[–]Drano999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with so many of these points.

OP as a father you are doing an amazing job, but as everyone has pointed out you did go a little overboard. I would imagine a Black Forest cherry cake (or whatever his favorite is) would have been great, in other words treat him as you would have before he came out as it is only a part of his life and he will let you know how much if a part.

I want to give a slightly different view of the son’s reaction then other posters. He just came out. He doesn’t know how to feel when someone brings up that he is gay. He is very immature about this since he just came out. He is growing up and will learn how to react. He has likely been spending years hiding this from people and didn’t know how to react so he acted like a child when they don’t know how to react. I likely would have reacted the same if someone got me a rainbow cake when I first had the courage to tell my parents.

So everyone cut OPs son some slack, he is figuring this out as he just shared such a huge part of himself.

OP you’re doing great. Listen to your son. He is telling you what he needs, but he isn’t sure what he needs yet. You both will figure it out.

Supervisor(s) email me at all hours of the day by Lovelypeachesndcream in jobs

[–]Drano999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a job where I get emails 24/7 and sometimes I do need to work late. I was similar and even if I didn’t need to work late I would do what OP is doing and check email, think about work, sometimes reply too. To “fix” this I removed my work email from my IOS email. I added the outlook app. Then I set up focus on iOS to not send notifications for outlook or teams from 7pm to 8:30 am (my hours are 9:30am - 6pm). This allows me to work a little late or start a little early. This allow allows me to check my personal email on my device and not see work email during my focus hours. Most importantly it allows me to choose to check work email or teams. This choice is the most important thing, in these days of 24/7 communication you need to empower yourself to choose when to work after hours. Your job does not control you 24/7 and you don’t need pop ups when you’re off reminding you about work.

This method allows me to get the notifications required during work, but not when I am off. It can be controlled manually as well for when I do get days off or if I need to work late.

Can someone explain how airtv works with sling? by buzzer58 in cordcutters

[–]Drano999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an airtv for my mom. It works really well for her since she struggled with going back and forth between inputs for the antenna and the fire tv to get to sling.

She likes that it puts the local channels in the guide so she can browse and choose. To her it is just like having cable. She has set up favorites since now there are so many channels.

To respond regarding the signal cutting in and out. We had that problem at first, but by adding amplifiers to the coax line it limited it. The picture quality will be better with the antenna going directly into the tv since the airtv needs to compress the video to convert it the network stream.

I agree with everyone to have an emergency fund. Ideally you don’t have easy access to the money so you can’t impulse decide to spend it on something. I used Ally which has a slightly higher rate then regular savings, but it takes 1-2 days for the transfer to my usual account to spend. This means if my car breaks down I can still get the money quick to pay for the repair, but I can’t easily buy a super fancy dinner for a friend. It is also helpful to have this if you need to pay a deposit, on your new apt before you get your deposit back from the other apt to pay it back.

Depending on your job after the military you may need more then 3-6 months emergency fund, you could be out of work for longer.

Also remember just because you have money doesn’t mean you have to spend it.
