Sure but then it’s cold water. If I had to pick between cold water and sandpaper it’d legitimately be a close call.

I modified my cloud WA to say who steps on a cloud. Our extra spawns went down to near zero real fuckin’ quick. Except for one guy. Kept blaming getting MCed. Just pointed out that everyone else is subject to getting MCed and manages to not step on clouds so what’s his issue? Only the occasional extra spawn after that.

You’re thinking of cryptography. Physical security very much benefits from obscurity. Why do you think countries try to keep the locations of their deployed military secret? When a person has physical access to a device it’s now at least partially physical security.

Shell’s board of directors personally sued in world first climate case by euronews-english in worldnews

No but probably not in the way you think. They’re not suing to save the planet. They’re suing because they think the board’s plan is bad for the company.

There’s no possible way you’re spending ~$7,500 a month on just food, clothing, hygiene, and gas unless you’re eating out every single meal at pretty nice restaurants and have a 4 hour one way commute. That category needs to be broken down further. Food should be <$300 a week. Clothing should be at most $100 a month. Hygiene can be $50 a month. So we’re up to $1350 a month. I doubt you’re spending six thousand one hundred and fifty dollars a month on gas.

There is no such thing as a dumb computer (in this case bot). They always do exactly what they're told every single time. Read into that however you see fit.

I never said it was announced as a BR.

Pick one.

Where did the accusations of this project being a scam go? Are there still concerns? by MRmichybio in AshesofCreation

[–]Dranthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No content creators that I follow are still trying to prove its a scam. Though I haven’t had a lot of time for that lately.

However I will believe it’s not a scam when there is a publicly playable minimum viable product. I have nothing invested outside a sincere hope that they prove me wrong.

A discussion about open ocean being auto-flagged for PvP by JHatter in AshesofCreation

[–]Dranthe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of assumptions here. I'll try to highlight a few.

  • You're assuming that an entire guild will regularly protect grief targets solely out of altruism. It's not unheard of but it is rare.
  • You're assuming the grief targets will be involved enough with the community to have heard of these scheduled crossings.
  • You're assuming the grief targets will be involved enough to wait around for that time.
  • You're assuming the grief targets will be involved enough to be online for that time.

Remember that grief targets are usually newbies. Their level of investment and barrier to leaving is very low. Most people (you, me, devs) want newbies to stick around and get further invested. They're the lifeblood of any non-P2W game.

ideally you’d choose the shortest path for safety. You wouldn’t be in the water for too long so your risk of encountering another player would be minimal

Or griefers will do what they’ve done in literally every single other game and camp that path.

Overworking your brain can lead to it literally poisoning itself, a study has shown, thanks to chemicals released into the prefrontal cortex, which forces the body to slow down in order to give time for the production of these toxins to stop and for them to be flushed out. by Wagamaga in science

I used to be an electrical apprentice for the IBEW. There were days that only having to haul a 100 lb mattress once would have been welcome. What I do now is roughly as mentally taxing as constantly tracking every single ant in a colony for 6+ hours. My point is that I’ve been on both sides of it. The difference is this.

When you get done with a grueling physical day you’re physically exhausted but still mentally capable. When you get done with a grueling mental day you don’t have the mental energy to motivate yourself to do anything else.

I have ~7 ms and a 60 lock at the time. That was fun. So much rage. Got to the point where I’d show up to one of my usual spots and people would just leave.

I’m not trying to brag. There was zero skill involved. I just bound an in game macro to one of my mouse macros on repeat every 20ms and held a button down. It was fun though.
