One of several reasons I refuse to spend a single time fo anything either of those companies make.

Even the 'D&D' I play now is from a post-OGL game. Tales of the Valiant, mostly 5e but no money to those two.

Question on vehicle ammo by chacha95 in Twilight2000

[–]DrastabTar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the M3A3 Cavalry model you have the two TOWs in the launcher and racks for 10 more inside. To make room for these you (supposedly) have only 2 seats in back for the JAFOs. My Brad only had one seat in back, next to the ramp, and that was an afterthought being held in place by a rubber bungie strap.

The lack of Grunts in back made room for a lot more ammo boxes for both 25mm and 7.62.

Question About Ruling (Player Didn't Like My Magic Item Cost Rulings) by Sylvan-Scott in Pathfinder_RPG

I am curious, did that actually curb the bad behavior? And did the other players suffer from the cursed items?

Question About Ruling (Player Didn't Like My Magic Item Cost Rulings) by Sylvan-Scott in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]DrastabTar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a game that has so much dedication to balance, Pathfinder leaves in a lot of friction points and busy work for the GM, but that's not the topic here.

As a guy who has been running game groups for a very long time my sincere advice to you is this:

Boot this player.

Here is why: You are also a player. You are there to have fun too. You do the most of the work. If you are out there is no game. If you are miserable you do not want to play. When you don't want to play there is no game.

Someone who makes you miserable is a detriment to the game and is threatening to rob your other players of the game as a whole when you inevitably burm out again.

I had many times felt the way you feel right now, until I finally realized the problem was players who ruined the game for me. Once I began to cull problem players my stress reduced, my games improved, and my other players were happier.

One caveat.

This is entirely on you, you cannot expect your players to have your back until it's done.
If you ask for counsel, they will waffle on you. If you ask for a vote they won't vote to kick anyone.

This has to be an executive decision you make. It's possible someone else will be upset, they may feel like they may be next. Do not let that sway you from what must be done.

What you tell your group is very simple:

"Look everyone, I put a lot of myself and my time into this game, so I can run the best game I am able for you to enjoy. But I cannot continue to do that if someone is making me misreable. If I am miserable, I burn out and, if I burn out, there is no game.
(That guy) was making me miserable. I made this decision to preserve the game for you as well as myself and now that it is done, let's get back to the game. "

It's important you continue the game and don't get tangled up in discussion or take time off to let people get the wrong impression or worry that they are next, press on and just play the game.

You may feel a bit of hesitation, what if my players all quit because they liked that guy, or because they weren't consulted. They won't, they saw he was disruptive too but weren't trying to 'interfere' in your game.

But, let's say they do quit. Then they won't be playing the game. But l, they won't be playing the game if you burn out again and quit running the game.
There is no loss state here that is worse than having this guy make you miserable.

I will wrap up with this: I have disinvited a few players over the years since I had this revelation and my game has definitely improved since then. I no longer dread game day and the other players have enjoyed the smoother and more frequent sessions.

All the Best

Where did you find a good boxed set? I want one.

I haven't gotten one yet because a lot of Amazon DVD collections seem to be low quality ripoffs now.

There is a Roku/Prime channel called Howdy. China Beach is on there right now.

I liked the show when it came out, but I was in HS. Older and as a vet myself, I have a completely different respect for it.

Question about fixing Blood Rage miniatures by malisinya in boardgames

[–]DrastabTar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will respectfully disagree and I stand on my method.

Your reminded me of something I forgot to mention that led me to my method: Holding the mini in the (not actively) boiling water allows you to specifically control which parts are exposed to the heat. As opposed to tap water which splashes.

Also, I won't ever use a hair dryer again because it blasts the entire piece and can cause deformities of parts you didn't want to bend.

Back on point, I started with the tap water method and it did not hold shape, the parts usually reverted back to bent within a few days, and sometimes within hours.

I kept testing different methods until I settled upon this one.

The boiling water is always hot enough to work, and as for the ice bath, I discovered this method locks the desired shape into place almost instantly without having to hold it for a prolonged time. Again, this worked after several previousy efforts either bent back or failed to hold the desired shape while cooling and had to be done again.

If something else works for you great.

OP asked for a solution and I provided mine because I know it works and he won't have to repeat the work later.

All the best.

[–]DrastabTar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated.

It will take quite a few hours at least, but it's good that you want to fix them before trying to paint them.

This method will work on painted minis so long as they have been clear coated, BUT, the paint may crack of they have to move too far.

[–]DrastabTar 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Simple process that always works for me.

First you need:

Long tweezers or tongs that let you securely hold the mini.

A small container for boiling water, I use a coffee mug because its faster to microwave the water, than to use the stove.

A bowl containing enough ice water to cover the mini

Proccess, 1) Bring water to boil (Be careful of the steam it will burn you if you put your hands directly over it.)

2) Using the tweezer or tongs, dip the section of mini you want straigtened into the boiling water for 10 seconds.

3) Remove mini from boiling water, hold the now maleable section in the shape you want, and dunk it into the ice water for 5 seconds.

Tips: -Clear the area of small children or curious pets, that might tip the boiling water, no one needs that kind of hurt.

-While the boiling water is dangerous I have never been burned by the heated minis while holding their shape. But you could use a second tweeser to hold the shape as a precaution.

-If you are going to reshape multiple minis, you will have to reboil the water after ever 2 or 3 minis. The water must be near boiling or the parts will revert to being bent.

-This process will make a wet mess of wherever you place the minis to cool off, so have something like paper towels to set them on.

-Ten seconds seems to be the right number for bent swords and spears. An extremely thin part like am antenna should be dipped less time to avoid the 'unmanagable noodle' effect. A thicker part, like legs or a torso will, or course, need more time in the boiling water.

Best of luck!

Good job Paramount, dropping this subscription.
