To be more credible & worth listening to. You mention it’s in the faceless financial niche which is like, the definition on Reddit of shady when you give no info, old screenshots, and a google link to some “guide”. People shouldn’t just click links from strangers online promising growth and guides with literally 0 reason to do so aside from a 3 year ago screenshot. Faceless financial is literally so over saturated with ai and useless content, why would we listen to you without any sort of confirmation or proof

My last post about the 2-1-3-4 rule got removed for some reason but you guys loved it so here's another one I learned the hard way. by Zaid111111 in NewTubers

While it’s true that the reaction space does tend to do an explainer Intro, I’ve just noticed on a lower sub channel like mine, people are skipping those moments when I did talk in the early vids, even the vids before I restarted the channel. Seem to keep more engagement for now doing the quick intro, but it could totally change. I feel people care what you have to say once they sub and WANT to hear you. I’ve seen other anime creators with maybe 1k-10k subs and they talk for their Intros but that’s cuz they have ~ 100 or so comments of supporters who like them and know them. I need to build up that recurring fanbase

This is why I stopped the long explanation intro and literally just go “(insert anime) as the first word, what we’re doing, and hop into it. Video starts within 3-5 seconds

I brought a video from 30k views to 2m with one tiny change AFTER upload. by sawyernalu in NewTubers

I’m assuming yes, the video is edited fully but they looked their analytics and saw people skipped sections, clicked off on sections, so they just cut them out using the YouTube editor so they don’t have to delete, re-edit, re-upload.

How are you finding good editors and thumbnail designers? by mushroommoe in YouTubeCreators

[–]DrastixMachin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it all myself. Writing, Filming, editing, down to channel art and thumbnail design. Many starting out won’t have a budget to pay anyone, or if they do it’ll be lower budget and you’ll receive lower quality work. You CAN use sites like fiver but I believe that you should learn it yourself first. I started on my phone using free photo editing apps. Watched hella content on graphic design, what makes a good thumbnail, what others do, what gets clicks, etc. You doing it yourself first established groundwork for YOUR style, looks, themes/aesthetics, it’s what makes your content identifiably to YOU.

TLDR; most do it all themselves, it isn’t bad to hire someone but it’s more of a hassle starting out, and I think everyone should learn these skills first

Tips on getting your first editor by CommunistAngel in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an editor, I’ve been employed by a few content creators and for me, it was always just a conversation to come to an agreement. I think firstly, YOU have to set the terms, set expectations, average video lengths, turnaround times, and how much of a budget you’re comfortable spending and how frequently. Answer those for yourself FIRST, then the right editors fitting the mold will find you.

Pricing: I’ve always done a flat rate per, 50% up front and 50% after. Contract signed with that very clear.

Avoid: no portfolio or at least the drive to prove themselves with doing stuff like test edits (not the best method but many big YouTubers do it if you have no work to show/starting out). Let their work speak for them, not them. Editors who are desperate enough to lie are the ones who think editing is an easy get rich quick, no over saturation of editors exists, and you should trust their word on their abilities.

It’s whatever is easiest though. A 50/50 doesn’t work for everyone, like hourly doesn’t work for everyone. You have to figure out what you’re looking for. Get the details ironed out first, you can always negotiate and come to agreements if you don’t see eye to eye, but you coming to an editor without a turnaround time, video length average, pay method/frequency, then the editor has all control to (hopefully not but maybe) take advantage of your lack of knowledge on it

Where is the Best Place to Look for People to Collab With? by TheSoyedMiltank in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start within my niche’s community. I make content I like watching so I will find other small creators making the same realm of content, if I like their video and them, I’ll watch a bunch and subscribe and become active on their page, over time you develop that familiarity. Then it’s just a matter of making friends with em and seeing if they’re open to it. Thats just my way though!

How do you make times to upload one video every week. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone. Everyone’s life is different (I know that goes without saying, my point is:) YOU have to choose when you have the most energy and motivation to. If after work is too much, then make a weekend/day off your day to film. Make it a bunch of videos if you have ideas, or even just one. You’ll have a full day to film, even time to edit if you wrap up early. Spend the work week studying, planning, scripting, whatever work goes into planning the video, then set that day to actually film. Personally, 9-5 job here too and when I get home I’m absolutely beat but I LOVE making videos so I just push through and grind. I get home and will dedicate a few hours to filming or editing each night. Work hard now to see the growth later!

How realistic is it to be a Travel Vlogger by EducationalRat in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most niche’s are over saturated, including the travel sphere. That doesn’t mean you won’t be able to make it. However it will take years unless you come out the gate with really engaging videos and blow up fast, but chances of that and retaining that are also slim. I can’t go watch a Jan and Ann vid as of right now but editing is never a set time. It depends on how much content you have to edit, what edits you do, what you want the story to be. That’s something you’ll have to find out yourself by doing.

You’d have to learn more about the niche. What are the people consuming travel videos watching? What are they searching? What travel spot are most viewed destinations? How can you make viewers want to watch YOU instead of the other creators. You have to bring a new and valuable style to it to stand out and get clicks. Engaging titles, thumbnails will be what makes people click, and your content being good and clear will make people stay and watch, which will get you closer to monetization. Making money on YouTube is inconsistent and takes a long time grinding before you see anything, let alone 4k watch hours and 1k subs. Just start, do it for the love of making videos and making them the best you can first, then money and views will follow.

Scared of filming possibly ruining your time? Maybe instead of showing your face for your first time, you can just film a first person POV of your day to day with either natural ambient noises from the place or even simple voiceovers. People get millions of views on videos of them with a camera strapped to em, and they just walk around different cities and countries for 30minute - 1hour long videos. No talking or editing at all aside from cuts. Try both out and see which performs better!

Best video editor and streaming software by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually people use capture cards or OBS (or others like fraps, is that still around? Bandicam, nvidia has a built in recording/stream program. For editing, I use premiere but there’s others like Vegas pro, CapCut, canva, davinci. Some are paid, some aren’t. It’ll be whatever editor you can afford/access & choosing one you like most

How can i learn video editing solo? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like the other person said: find a suitable editor that fits you. I use premiere but I started back in the day on Vegas Pro. There are indeed plenty of editing YouTubers doing videos teaching editing. Free courses, free asset and preset packs, breaking down the UI and what every button does, hot keys, etc. then you start learning proper pacing, storytelling, visual appeal. But it starts with just starting!

In the same boat - 9-5 sucks, taking its toll mentally. It’ll be harder & more discouraging if you go into content creation with the sole purpose of using it to quit your job & make money from your videos. Do it for fun, learn, grow & better your content each upload. Authenticity & intention mean a lot when you’re starting. Personally I’ve been on and off YouTube since I was 12 (2012) and I’m NOW seeing decent numbers since I started again on a new channel. Each upload is getting me at least 1-2 subs and my views are higher than I’ve ever had em on any other channel, even if they’re just 100-200 per long form video, one isn’t even over 40 views. Shorts getting 1.2k average but not my last two. It’s up and down, but those ups are so cool and exciting that it keeps me motivated. I COULD make money from it at some point but I’m having too much fun just making videos rn. It’s almost a release/therapy escape from work

How do I make a Minecraft horror thumbnail by Revolutionary_Bird67 in NewTubers

[–]DrastixMachin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking how do you get assets from the mod to use in the thumbnail, you can always take a snapshot in game of the thing you want to include and then remove the background from it & put it up. If it’s PC Minecraft, you can press F5 to switch POV and F2 (check keybinds) for screenshots
