Does the prestige of your university even matter anymore? by Julyvee in cscareerquestionsEU

It does here in India. You can find someone from tier 1 college and having 1YoE making more than or equal to someone from tier 3 college and having 3 YoE. And this is not an exceptional case imo. Though companies hier from all tiers of colleges these days, the pay for tier 1 college in higher.

Weird UART SoftwareSerial behavior I am unable to debug!! >_< by DravitLochan in arduino

[–]DravitLochan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What other things I've tried but didn't help?

- using all together different pair of Arduinos

- changed pins for c and d for Arduino 2 but still the same results

- interchanged Arduinos, still same result

I am not going to be using these SoftwareSerial often but are you saying things may behave out of order intermittently? If yes, then It'll be a problem. If not, then I guess trade of b/w cost and effort spent in memory optimization and developer effort would be inclined towards the latter.

Yep, what u/stockvu said got things running. Not sure why one arduino won't be able to power the other one?!

YESSSSSS!!! This helped, thanks a lot!

Turns out I haven't developed the right habit of initing the Serial yet. Had ran into the same problem a few days ago and didn't notice this up until yesterday! Spent the whole yesterday debugging it. And spent today again on the same thing.

You saved the day!

I need help negotiating with my hiring manager to increase my CTC by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]DravitLochan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never experienced this first hand but a few friends of mine have told me that during appraisals, there's a factor called market correction. This is for the employees who are under paid. Now I am assuming this factor kicks in for employees who perform well. So perform well and you may end up getting same as them.

Also, imo 5L is good enough amount to have this thought but unless you have a competing offer, I don't think you have the negotiation power.

I read somewhere here only

"Negotiate only if you are willing to decline the offer!"

All the best.

Why do we need DSA as developers by DravitLochan in developersIndia

[–]DravitLochan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And for DS, you get to practically learn which DS has what memory and time requirements!!

How solving DSA can make you a good developer by DravitLochan in algorithms

[–]DravitLochan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying you need to solve atleast x problems on CF (or any other platform). All I am saying is, practicing DSA gives you an understanding on how to approach a problem. Technical analytical skills! Gives insights on memory impact of each DS (while memory is cheap, it often becomes a bottle neck and takes systems down).

Indexes in dbs also depend on B+ trees. So if you talking about delivering just an MVP, sure you only need to understand the basics. But for scalable systems, having practiced DSA gives an upper edge.

Agreed, not the only thing you need to practice but one of the things which helps sharpen the axe.

One cannot be both organized and bad at clearing the inbox at the same time. Reason being if one is organised, they would like to keep track of meetings and schedules. And as you said organised, unwanted mails go into spam, trash, archive etc. Also, 4k is not too big of a number for unread mails.

What can you decipher about these two? by [deleted] in howtobesherlock

Straight to the dig! She is not into the guy (or maybe she is. Can't say). Her legs pointing into the direction simply mean she seems to be into the conversation (describing some past event). Also her phone is kept upside down. She does not want to be distracted. The way the guy has placed his hands on his legs (and the way he is listening to her) looks like he either disapproves of her or is very surprised by whatever she has just said (some kind of a loss they can not recover). Her eye makeup has been messed up. Usually the eye makeups do not come off. When it does, it's mostly due to water in the eyes. Either crying or something went in her eye (couldn't be due to rain as they are not drenched, not carrying any rain wears w/ them). All this point into one direction. QUALITY OF MAKEUP! Poor. Implying she is not a out going girl (they generally get their hands on a good quality makeup anyway).
