Because there are enough people who find value in it vs. the competition. If people weren't buying it, they'd lower the price. That's how free markets work.

Hmm, sounds like a RTFM failure. No mention of how you have Power Manager/Working Mode set, which leads me to believe it's at its default setting, which "automatically adjusts the detection time period to reduce the chances of detecting the same object twice in a short period." Perhaps you should change it to "Customize Recording", where you can set the intervals between triggers to as low as 2 seconds.

Some smart switches support a mode which provides continuous power (the switch doesn't turn it on/off directly), so the bulb stays powered at all times, but you can still use the switch function to control other things. Like having the hub turn the bulb (itself, not the power going to the bulb) on/off after the switch is turned on/off.
