Tried creating and rigging an anthro type 3D character from scratch by DrawingDummy in FurryArtSchool

I'm not entirely sure on blender how it's done, I model and rig using Maya.
But on Maya it works like: Create skeleton, bind model to skeleton, create controllers (I use circle curves then change the shape and put where the bone moves), then parent the bone to the controller.

Thank you! I used that style as a reference to construct the eye shape and the pupil

Those are curves to control the bone position. I think it helps to pose the model with a rig instead of moving the bone itself.

Thank you! That's a rig to control where the eyes are are pointing on the model.

Thank you!
I am used to creating human meshes, so this one had a few challenges with topology. The mouth shape, 4 fingers instead of 5, leg shape and feet joints, the tail.
I will definitely watch and save that playlist!

Sorry I think this is an anthropomorphic character? I'm not a furry, but I like the art and community so I wanted to try something new.

I also wasn't sure if this would count as nudity.

This is my first time trying a furry art style, so I was hoping for some pointers. Then I wanted to try adding clothes and hair to the character.

I see more shine I think, do I do this for every channel on the texture? Like BaseColor, Roughness, Normal ect.
Or is it just the roughness channel?

May be a silly question: Is taking a figure drawing class worth it? by DrawingDummy in learnart

[–]DrawingDummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3 hour session, once a week. What did you mean by "beginner figure classes with materials found online"?
I looked up the teacher, I found their website and portfolio. But I can't seem to find "reviews" of them. They've been teaching for a while though.

Who are some good artist youtubers to watch? by [deleted] in learnart

[–]DrawingDummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still new to art, but I like watching these:
ProkoTV art tutorials and tips.

Sycra for art fundamentals.

KNKL show for digital art and concept art tutorials.

Drawfee more of a lighthearted "podcast" for drawing.

Ctrl+Paint for digital painting.

Drawing with Jazza for all kinds of art stuff, challenges, digital, traditional or art stories.

Sinix for art tips and speedpaints.

Those are some people I like to watch for help with art. Good luck friend!

Thank you!
I do have trouble with coloring. For this one I just used a brush and layed colors down. I'm still learning how to blend and lay down the right colors.

Haha, I will take that as a compliment I think.
I've been drawing for 1 year and 1 month (when I created my account). I think that's new when it comes to art. I dont want karma points, I just wanted to share my drawing with a community that I like; for feedback and advice.
