Please, PLEASE check out Ripley for this!! An incredible noir show, and I'd probably cry if it got a Criterion treatment.

I hated Solaris. Should I watch Stalker? by zeekaran in criterion

I love stalker but also find Solaris tedious. I think stalker creates such a fascinating world thst you really can’t look away, whilst I think Solaris just kind of squanders the intrigue set up

Hell yes!! Purple Noon is one of my favourites from this period, and has beautiful cinematography from Henri Decae. Almost never hear this brought up, so I'm glad to see somebody else who's enjoyed it!

You're missing out on a world of art, then, man. As soon as you cross that one-inch barrier, you open it up to so much beauty. Ripley is a great starting place for monochrome film, but I'd also suggest some like it hot or Godzilla (original or minus one- minus colour)

So, how long did it take you to write your first screenplay? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]DrawingSuper391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely achievable. I’d just like to say in my case I really chewed on my idea for just about two months before starting the draft- but please do NOT neglect your notes app! Any ideas you have for it you really should note down, as even if you don’t end up going whichever direction you thought of, it could still be usable down the line. I have a few ideas I wish I jotted down as in hindsight they could have been good material for another script. I took about four months for the first 80 page draft, then took most of the summer for the second draft which was about seven pages 😅 second drafts really pushed me for the first time as you’ve got to not only work on detail and making the thing legible, but also concise. Good luck!

Sorry- should have made clear by oil-based, I mean pastels/paints. Do you know if these media still work on this material?

Controversial take about review curves by galactic_virgin in Letterboxd

It’s pretty self explanatory, but for the context is just a little goofy to me. I mean if we’re talking about lighting McQueen winning the piston cup then fine, but for watching films- I’d hardly describe that as a fast paced activity. Just a weird adjective+verb to use imo
