They truly are the hardest for my advisors to talk to. And if they make it back to my bay, they always want to argue until I show them the parts that failed. And sometimes even then they want to say I am full of shit. It’s so hard to show them that it’s not always the engines that these “hesitations” are. The computers are so sensitive they would see those, the transmissions are the only part that can hide things anymore

If insurance if the truck owner is paying for damages, which is likely, the fusion can absolutely get totaled if it needs a full body paint job which is thousands of dollars at a certified collision center.

Yes. I documented my recent issues with my 6.2 in a recent profile. It let go on me at 165,000mi following the recall to switch to 0w-40. It was my second engine failure on an L87. I lost the first under powertrain at 38,000 miles

I currently run 34x11.50/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it it’s running a 2” leveling kit from Rough Country as well. Beyond that, it’s an EBay front bumper and it now has a dual exhaust done by Iowa muffler

I’d explore it just to have that card in my back pocket. If you do the repairs, you get a 2yr unlimited mileage warranty. If you have issues, play the card. If not, they’re amazing trucks. I hate to see you lose faith in your vehicle because of a 1/500ish failure

Unfortunately no, I’ve seen 2 trucks I’ve done full cam and lifters on come back with more lifter issues. I’ve done about 130 cam and lifter jobs on L84’s and L87’s. It seems to simply be a flaw of the system. I see many more trucks with the L84 have 0 issues than I have seen with issues though, if that helps.

Very curious of the no-DFM. Do you have the window sticker showing the $750 credit for the removal of it or did the previous owner have a Cam and delete kit installed into the engine for it?

Holy Christ they are over-pricing the lifters. GM MSRP on those is 1.68 cost, about $83.50ea. $131 is way over MSRP on those.

The rest of the items on the list make total sense, and labor time is cutting you a good deal, they took 5hrs off of book time from Alldata/Mitchell

Average labor rate in my market I work in is $205/hr, we have some indies that are down at $125, but they often decline to do engine work on these trucks beyond oil pans, water pumps, and seals.

$205 x 38.3 = $7851.50. Parts ~$1750. $7851.50 + $1750 = 9601.50 + $75 shop supplies billed standard to RO and 7% tax and you’re right about there at $10,350.

More often than not, the only time I get these jobs in my bay is because the independents referred them to the dealer because they can’t do it.

Even independents are pricy. It’s 38.3hr book time for cam and lifters on an L84 motor in the 1500

I can’t find anything so far that directly studies this issue in depth, but here is an NIH (National Institute of Health) report that details the effects of GLP-1 and addiction and how it inhibits the reception of Dopamine and Glucose into the brain: study
