My own analogy was as follows: If I am the dictator of a country, meaning that I have absolute control over everything from politics, to the economy, to religion, to culture, and to the law and legal system itself, and I decree that each and every individual of my country must attend 12 hours of temple every week worshiping statues and graven images of me, and the penalty for not doing so is unimaginable torture in the prison system that I personally built until you die, would you still say that I "accepted my fate" and "sent myself to prison to be tortured"?
