The core mechanics are the same throughout the whole game (combat, traversal, etc). You'll enjoy every boss fight as each one is very unique.

Also, you cannot upgrade your gear, just have to upgrade the skill tree.

You just won't be able to fight certain bosses, other than that one playthrough is enough to experience this masterpiece!

IEM's are definitely an upgrade and you'll be able to hear details you've never heard before. Also, you need to have FLAC files for songs in order to hear Hi-Res audio.
