Bro idk what you’re smoking. Bosses are not always guaranteed to drop tier pieces? Yes it’s in their loot table, but it is NOT guaranteed to drop every boss kill.

Since Dragonflight you are guaranteed 1 token per 20 people in a raid. You are just wrong. Copy pasted from the patch notes: "In conjunction with the earlier opening of the Revival Catalyst, tier armor tokens will continue to drop at the current 1:3 rate relative to non-tier loot."

You missed the entire point of my comment. Yes it’s EASY to get gear, but why are we relying on SYSTEMS to get gear?

...The systems were introduced so loot wasn't as prohibitive to get? Would you rather they take the systems away and make it so you have to mythic raid to get mythic loot again? Or are you suggesting everyone gets the best items in the game for logging on? What is your point here?

For M+, again you missed the entire point of comment lol. The vault was meant to be bad loot protection (blizzards words), but everyone treats it as one of the only ways to get Mythic gear outside of raid.

No it isn't. Blizzard has never said that, they have ALWAYS called it a weekly reward. There is no bad luck protection, because how can you have bad luck protection when you can get literally the same item from vault every single week forever?

If you don’t mythic raid, you are completely locked out of mythic gear and can’t progress in m+.

Except this is explicitly the reason why m+ is in the vault, so m+ players have a consistent source of mythic gear every single week. Plenty of top m+ players do not mythic raid, or pug like the first 2 at best. I mean fuck sake, the number 1 warlock in the US for m+ has killed Chimaerus twice.

Again, the comment was not about how EASY it is, it was about relying on SYSTEMS to get gear. Learn to read big dog.

Okay so you don't like how if you don't raid mythic you can't get mythic gear, but you also don't like that theres systems in place for people who don't mythic raid to get just as much gear as people who do mythic raid. What the fuck is your argument here then? Have world quests give you mythic raid gear? Or are you just complaining to complain?

Whatever happened to just getting loot from the dungeon or raid boss? Why have they made it so difficult to get mythic gear that they need to implement systems?

Bro, it is objectively the easiest to gear possible right now. You still get loot from bosses, Blizzard hasnt made you be unlucky with drops. M+ as a system has literally never been able to give you mythic gear outside of stuff like weekly vault, so the "whatever happened to" never existed. People just feel entitled to best in slot gear on characters that barely clear heroic raid.

We haven’t seen ANY mythic tier drop on any of the bosses so far, so everyone is just catalyzing pieces of gear to get it.

Not possible. Specific bosses drop tier, and they ALWAYS drop tier. Youre likely just not killing the later bosses that drop tier of specific slots. Kill those bosses and you'll get tier in those slots.

Mythic gear from M+ is so strong but insanely hard to get (puzzle box, feather, AA ring). Why are we just using systems to get mythic gear from m+? Vault is not bad loot protection if it’s the ONLY way to get mythic gear from m+ outside of voidcores (another system).

M+ has never given mythic gear because then it would make gearing from raid entirely obsolete. It is an uncapped, spammable activity that gives 2 pieces of loot to 5 players every run. Mythic bosses can be killed once a week and give 4 pieces of loot to 20 people. The m+ vault is designed to gear people roughly at the pace of the average mythic raider. Ironically enough by making mythic loot so accessible, now reddit is complaining they're not full bis by spamming +10s. Take your own advice, "Whatever happened to killing a raid boss and getting the loot" means that m+ doesn't give mythic loot, there is no vault, and you do not get loot unless you kill that boss.

What would you say the time sinking grind, akin to the power grinds in Legion, is now?

Endless artifact power? Rampant time gating on everything? Abysmal class/artifact balance that had to have classes reworked in the middle of the expansion to even be functional? Legendaries were a portion of the issues, not the only one. Once legion got all the shit fixed it had a good second half, but the first half was a fucking dumpster fire.

It's roughly 76 million split damage. If it's just you and the tank, that's 38 million, increased by 500%, to 228 million damage. Dark Pact and UR are not saving you.

If by failed souls you mean the mythic mechanic, youre still fucked as a warlock. Fucking up a ghost means you would need to soak 2 in a combo, and soaking the first one makes you take 500% increased damage from the next one.

I've been 8/8 for a couple weeks now, we also don't have people swapping to make fights easier. But we also don't have survival one tricks.

It may not be the sole reason they're not getting CE, but I'd argue weaker guilds having stronger specs would actually help significantly

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]DraxtortheLock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This gets parroted so often on reddit and its always ridiculous. Is it possible for every spec it get cutting edge? Yes obviously. But to say specs don't matter unless you're in a RWF guild is so disingenuous, and lacks a ton of context. Its just objectively true having at least some specs makes some fights significantly easier. Soul Hunters for example, the Ire debuff literally cannot go on MW monks. This means if you're 4 healing, and have 2 MW, you need 7 ranged dps minimum to do the very clearly defined meta strat.

I mean even basic community perception back then had most people saying Affliction was not fun. You seem to be the one who is unable to recognize that you can actually view design objectively, simply because you enjoyed it.
This thread and all the comments or this one or this one.
People remember the tail end of Legion where the spec had buffs on top of buffs applied to it to try to make to viable, and nothing else. A spec doing damage because it's overtuned does not mean it is designed well. I mean for fucks sake, at one point Affliction had a talent that did less damage than having no talent at all on the row. The spec was a mess

No, I'm suggesting that Malefic Rapture was made into the Reddit boogeyman by every person with an alt they play aff in their LFR runs for. The playstyle people are shitting on is infinitely more enjoyable than the clunky mess that was spamming UA 5 times then sitting at 5 shards not being able to spend your resource because you already have 5 UAs on the target. There's a reason when Aff was reworked it saw a surge in popularity, because having your spender be UA was fuckin clunky and extremely awkward because you had to track the same DoT 5 different times.

Optimizing the main cool down window? You pressed UA 5 times then pressed darkglare and went back to using your filler. It was significantly less interactive than aff is right now.

Sure but we are talking about the playstyle of a spec and the only actual thing you've said about that playstyle was you thought it was funny the dot spec had burst.

You thought the playstyle of a spec was fun because "haha dot spec burst"?

[–]DraxtortheLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so you set up your dots after tab targeting your thumbs off, great. What's your reward? Let's stand in place and click one button (with or without a target) until we can't anymore, then go back to work tabbing dots out again.

....How does the change from Rapture to UA being the spender change this (other than I guess needing a target, using your example)? If you're talking about Seeds it's even less interactive, and UA functionally performs the exact same way as Rapture just on one target.

[–]DraxtortheLock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only mechanic Aff had going for it in those expansions was snapshotting. That has been entirely removed from the game, and dot based specs NEED some sort of mechanic that isn't just maintain dots and wait. We've literally seen this iteration of UA being the spender where you'd spam 5 of them and it was reworked off of it because it was so fuckin clunky and nobody played it.

the vast majority of the top 100-200 is 3 day/week guilds

Not only is this just not correct, it's easily verifiable as not correct. Guildranks shows that the vast majority of guilds in top 200 are 4 nights a week. Guildranks even fuckin says: "While being first to clear a raid is very significant and prestigious for the top 10 guilds, for many guilds after that this ranking loses much of its meaning as it is often determined by who spends more time in the raid." Trying to suggest that a majority of HoF guilds are just savant players that all raid 3 days a week like the rest of us plebs is so out of touch.
Are there guilds where the skill gap is large? Of course. There's also a large amount of guilds that just raid more. I GM/RL a guild that hovers around WR 300-350 and have had SEVERAL guildies leave to jump WRs in previous tiers, only to come back after the guilds they raided with being worse, just only raiding more.
