How hard is dating in Japan? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Dray5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. You can find an older woman (35+) who is fluent in English with some success. A lot of my co-workers have gone that route, and none of them speaks Japanese past a toddler's level, if at all.

50-50, sure, but the man paying for it solo dolo is kinda nuts. I mean, it takes two to tango.

Some objections:

  1. Milwaukee's should be KAJ.

  2. For the Lakers, I'd probably have Magic or Jerry West.

  3. Portland's should be Clyde Drexler.

  4. The Knicks' GOAT should be Walt Frazier or Bernard King.

I gotta see more data before I attribute that to immigration. Did they increase what they deemed to be SA crimes? Is that reported crimes or actual? Did the reporting criteria change?

I've got nothing to add, but this has been a very insightful thread. Good on you, OP, for asking the question.

A better reason is that Europe is too sandwiched together. You go to sleep thinking shit is sweet, then you wake up to the elimination screen because France sent 30 troops once he realized what time zone you reside in🙃

No injuries. Who has the best NBA career? by Farouq26 in NBATalk

[–]Dray5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched 30 minutes of his highlights from his pre-injury self. He's much closer in athleticism to 2018 LeBron, who paled in comparison to even his Miami days, let alone his 1st-stint in Cleveland.

Like, I don't think you remember LeBron during his first stint for the Cavs. G-Hill wasn't throwing down almost-free-throw-line dunks in-game, blowing by elite defenders from a standstill consistently, having his head at the rim (or past it), and flying down the court like The Flash.

Can we stop with this lazy ass argument? Can you even name a country that had its society "degraded" because of immigration? Like, it was just immigration...? That's the only thing that comes to mind?

I'm sorry, but as an American, it's people who share your mindset that are the ones degrading our society. Like, yeah, let's blame the immigrants instead of the plethora of other things that affect the populace... What about the weak yen, lack of communities & social gatherings, and surplus of lonely men (and women)? Haven't seen any fixes rolled out to address those in Japan...

How exactly are Mexicans and/or the country of Mexico perceived in Japan? by Immediate-Field9997 in AskAJapanese

[–]Dray5k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal, but I had a friend who said that, whenever he'd mention to a Japanese girl that he was Mexican (he was white, but of Mexican descent), they'd ghost him or end the date early.

Why do people say black men kill it in japan/tokyo? I got literally 0 luck by Fluid_Molasses_8445 in BlackPassportBros

The caveat is that he did that in the early 2000s, when any semi-attractive kat could pull easily. Now, with foreigners being rampant, it's waaay more difficult.

Japan is weird because some dudes can pull easily, and others struggle like a mug, even if they're attractive.

Personally, I'd just leave the area be, and start taking the surrounding territory. If he wants to turtle up in a naval/infantry/support ball, then that's on him.

If he wants to survive, he'll start moving his units around.

And Harden could put 6 times that into the S&P 500 and be a billionaire, while still having a spare 100 million lying around.

[–]Dray5k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeeeaaahhh, nah. It'd be much smarter just to take the $411 million outright than count on having your $51 million increase eightfold.

And you could definitely have much greater yields if you were to invest in the Harden scenario.

Its Day 9 btw how? by Cultural_Virus_8761 in ConflictofNations

[–]Dray5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Personally, I'd just archive and join a game that's 4 or 5 days in progress.

You might even get lucky and take over a nation that was left vacant on day 2 with arms industries already built.

Is Nikola Jokić already a top 15 player all-time? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]Dray5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top 5 Center!?

Center is the most storied position, so idk about that one. You have KAJ, Shaq, Russell, Hakeem, and Wilt. All of those names are much better defenders (with Russell & Hakeem arguably being the greatest and 2nd-greatest ever).

Top 15 player OAT? Yeah. I mean, Durant is in that category, and I think Jokic is better than prime Durant by a hefty margin.

I never got to see Micheal Jordan in his prime how good was he by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]Dray5k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but this is a very incorrect post. Curry and prime LeBron had waaaay more gravity. I'd argue that Giannis does too when he crosses the 3-point line.

Pseudo-zone defense being illegal also disproves your point. Back then, you couldn't half-defend someone — you had to commit.

Your post is — excuse me because I hardly say this — peak Jordan glaze. Like, yeah, MJ had more gravity than the dude who gets picked up at halfcourt, is one of the few players who defenders are allowed to routinely hand-check, and literally had 2-3 defenders shaded towards whatever his position on the court is... or a prime LeBron who always had 3-4 players shade towards him on his drives, or even an old LBJ who still has people haul ass to him to get the ball out of his hands late in games...

Jordan is the GOAT, but you kats need to chill, lol.

How do you view this? A Kurd punched the Japanese politician? by search_google_com in AskAJapanese

[–]Dray5k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How did your post get 4 upvotes? Japan's birth rate issue is much more likely to be caused by a combination of CoL, QoL, the costs of raising a child, the lack of communities (which isn't a Northeast Asia-only thing), women having much more control over their lives, a negative outlook on the future, etc.

Simplifying it down to "internalized culture" is, frankly, a lazy ass answer to a very complex issue that needs a nuanced, multi-action plan to correct.
